Sun Shader By Design

This is an addendum to my earlier review now that the shades have ALL broken. Jim Mello rarely answers his phone or returns messages. When he does answer, he makes promises and you never hear from him again. He is a complete failure. I called the factory he bought from to get a recommendation of another installer to fix his work. Even they said they won't work with him anymore. I hear he is now going around as Havana Shades. Avoid at all costs.

Items did not come in on time. Lots of excuses offered. When they were finally installed, one of the four did not work right. It took numerous calls and texts to get it fixed. I'm still chasing him about a small screen that is supposed to be installed above one of the shades. Nice guy but very frustrating.

We met the owner, James Mello, at the Arizona Fairgrounds Home Show in mid January 2016. Since we bought our new home in Goodyear we have had a challenge finding someone who would place a retractable screen against our triple slider patio door. We made an appointment which James kept on time. On January 18, 2016 we contracted his services. He said it would take about four weeks to make it and then we would have it installed. True to his word, James called us February 15 and we had it installed on the 19th of February. His installer, Mike, was very professional and meticulous about the installation. He did the installation over two days. We are very happy with the product. It fits perfectly, the color matches to what we picked out and we have received favorable reviews from our neighbors. Our builder, K. Hovnanian should be using Sun Shader as an option to people buying new homes. Finally, in a time when so many vendors do sub par work we want everyone who reads this review that this was not the case of James Mello and his Sun Shader organization.
