When I called and spoke with Shannon, I explained that we lived in a manufactured home; therefore there was a crawl space under the home. I further explained the situation and the history of the house - how we had rodent "proofed" out home about 5 years earlier and obviously they had breached our defenses. I told him two items of concern: 1) Someone must go under the home and find the point of entry and the level of current damage since we already had a rodent inside the home. 2) I did not want to use any poison that could cause secondary kill - not only to protect wildlife, but also because if a rodent ate such a poison and then got into our home again, and one of our cats ate that rodent, it could kill one of our pets. Shannon assured me that they used poison bait that could not kill secondarily. Odd, because the bait looked an awful lot like Jaguar, a common high-strength anti-coagulant that certainly can cause secondary kills. Anyway, he told me that they way they start was by setting up bait traps around the outside of the home for a while to reduce the rodent population. I said that was all well and good, but that I wanted to find the point of entry and seal my home. My request was ignored, ultimately. When the technician came out, he missed the scheduled window by quite a bit of time (I had schedule a day off of work to be here), so I called Shannon and asked for an update. I got voicemail, but to his credit Shannon did call me back within a few minutes and said the tech was on the way - he had gotten delayed at another job. I totally understand being busy, but my time if valuable too, and if you are going to miss your appointment by more than 30', in my opinion, a courtesy call is not asking too much. I shouldn't have to pursue them to give them money. As to the actual service: When the tech arrived, he was very personable and nice, but he did nothing more than I could have done myself, for a tiny fraction of the cost, in a few minutes time. Basically, he placed three bait boxes around my home filled with the aforementioned poison. He never even went into the portal under my house to look at the situation. He gave me a few extra poison tablets to throw under my house myself, which I did. He informed me that he would be back every week or two to check the bait and replace as needed. He never returned. I paid him at the time for the service. It was $225. After about one month, I received a call from the office person asking if I wanted them to return and refresh the bait boxes for an additional $45. Again, I can do that myself for a tiny fraction of that cost - I already own several bait boxes myself. I told her no, I did not want that, and that they could return to pick up their bait boxes. So apparently, there was no plan to ever find how that rodent got into my home. Their entire plan was to poison the rodents (and potentially other wildlife) around my home in perpetuity, for what I saw as an exorbitant price. No plan to reduce the chance of getting rodents in my home other than endless poisoning. No thanks. Yes, I understand that the rodents must be kills, and I am perfectly okay with that. I further realize that mechanical kill traps take longer to reduce rodent populations than does poison. But neither was particularly what I expressed I was looking for - I wanted a professional that knows rodents, to find the point of entry and seal it up. Instead, I spent my time doing just that since they were not about to. I was very disappointed that three bait boxes and some poison bait with zero monitoring for an entire month would cost $225. For that kind of expense, the least the tech or Shannon could have done was look in and/or under the home for the point of entry. The tech didn't even walk around the outside of the home with a mirror to look under the skirt for said point of entry. Very disappointing service and result.
