Since then her business has grown to not only provide top quality design, but also installation, maintenance, and much more for residents in the Cave Creek and Carefree areas as well. Robbie Goodroad is a genius at landscape design. My yard looks amazingly better than when we first bought the house two years ago. She knows the micro-climate of the various places in this area----what will grow well and what it's best placement is. She places plants so that I always have a lovely vista or bloom to view in my yard. Our lighting system has deteriorated so she is going to design a new system next fall to highlight the plants and make the yard safe and walkable at night. I use her monthly service, too, and they keep everything trimed and replace plants, if necessary, and generally make sure her design is treated they way it should be to maintain her style. If you came to Arizona to enjoy the sun and indoor/outdoor lifestlyle possible here, you would be very happy to have Robbie help you attain the best yard you could have. She's that good!

The design is extraordinary. Robbie selected a variety of plants in complementary shapes, sizes and colors that would enhance the entire patio area. She added boulders and sculpture that I would never have imagined. The lighting illuminates the area where silhouettes become part of the evening landscape. The work exceeded my expectations.

They did a minimal amount of work, charged us $23 to haul away debris and then called to tell us we had this outrageous balance, that far exceeded their estimate . They are not timely so it is difficult to judge when they may show us. When my husband talked to them about the bill they were pretty unhelpful

This is also why we must give a 2-hour window for our arrival, in order to accommodate any last-minute requests that may occur with each client. We bill hourly and are only able to estimate what your service bill would be based on the extent of work discussed at our initial appointment. When your husband called about your bill, we were able to go into detail about what was done, according to our notes. We hope to answer all questions to our clients satisfaction, so we hope you will call us so that we may better clarify. The maintenance agreement you were given reflected that you selected to pay to have us haul away our debris versus using your own trash service. Again, we value your feedback, and have passed this review along to our crew and office staff, so that we may work to improve our service."

Tree service was to remove an approx 30' tall Palo Verde that was leaning over drive and garage. Crew arrived a little early but started work as soon as HOA allowed. Entire process to remove the tree was fast and clean up was great. Replaced with smaller tree and also took out a couple of older Bougainvillea and did general clean up, trim of other plants and refreshed the rocks. 3rd or 4th time we have used Goodroad, service always excellent and crew very professional.

It went GREAT!! The communication couldn't have been better.
Owner Robbie Goodroad was present every step of the way, actually picking up a shovel and "digging in", providing innovative suggestions, directing her crew, which by the way, was very professional, personable, and diligent. Worked as a team. Overall, the Goodroad team made dramatic improvements in our property's appearance. We couldn't have been more impressed and pleased.

This was an amazing experience. To see our yards transform from ho-hum to fabulous was a Chritmas gift in itself. I was practically dancing as all the cacti I had admired in the owner's home appeared in my yards. The topography was transformed from flat to rolling with tableaus of complementary plants draping over the undulating mounds. I loved the unusual plants with great shapes and surfaces and colored blooms. The design included those as well as making sure that something is always blooming during the times when we are in residence. A watering system that was existing was modified to make this lovely design maintenance-free. And three gorgeous, large vases were filled with both tall and draping plants that sit between master-bedroom French doors and an outside seating area around a hot tub. The work crew, under the direction of the owner/designer, arrived on time, were constantly friendly and courteous, and worked very hard (in raincoats, no less) to keep to schedule. They perfectly executed the design that was discussed and drawn to my tastes. A paticular concern was a monolithic rock waterfall that cascades into the swimming pool---much too large and a dated design. The designer suggested minimizing it by placing it among like-size plants and higher berms covered with plants, as well as some plants that will cover parts of the monolith as they grow. It seems less ugly already and we can see that, as the plants grow, it will minimize this eyesore. There was also a gap created by a previous landscaper who trimmed a tree too short eliminating the privacy previously enjoyed between our neighbors and ourselves. Rebar trellises formed as lovely-shaped trees were customized and built to size to fill that gap and pyrocantha will grow up those trellises to recreate that missing privacy.
We have contracted with this designer to build a pergola, rebuild a firepit. install new sconces, build and install a fence and gate at our main entrance door to create shaded, quiet space at the front of our home, looking out of the new saquaro tableau in the front yard. We are waiting approval from our HOA--- complete plans drawn, forms submitted and necessary communication all provided by this landscaping firm. I will describe the completion of this project in a future Angie's List post. I fully expect it was be beautiful and blend perfectly into our enhanced landscape.

I had obtained 6 bids for the work. Goodroads was not the least expensive, but certainly not the most. What impressed me and prompted me to hire Goodroads was the level of personal involvement by the owner (Robbie Goodroad) and her creative and inclusive approach to my yard. I was on a tight budget and Robbie adjusted design accordingly yet still came out with a terrific outcome. We have more planned for the future, and Robbie is terrific about working with me in phases, as I am able to afford additions to my yard.

I contracted Goodroad for monthly maintenance service. When the first service happened the quality was just okay but they were on time and professional. When I received my first bill I was surprised to see that I was charged $29 for the removal of a very small amount of grass and yard trimmings. The contract clearly stated that all yard waist would be put in my garbage can if there was room and no fee would be charged. The can was pretty much empty at that time as my weekly pickup had just happen two days prior. I let it go and didn't say anything, chalking it to a mistake and I would see how things went going forward. Two weeks later my grass sprinklers started to leak. I performed a quick diagnostics and realized that one of my valves needed a new bonnet (a $13 part). I didn't have time to do the work myself so I called Goodroad. One of their guys showed up that same day and was here for less than 20 min and they charged me a whopping $187.00 for what I believe was at best a $50.00 job including labor. In my opinion this companies rates are way out of line and it seems clear to me that they don't look at the long term picture in a business relationship. I have cancelled my service contract and will seek service with another company.

Robbie Goodroad transformed our flat, plain yard into the neighborhood showplace. She started with clearing our place of many, many fences the previous owner had left, she brought in dirt which was made into mounds to add dimension, she cleared out trees that were diseased, and gave us a plan for the future. She used plants that are specifically meant for our area which is 2000 ft. above sea level. No more dead plants that look good in Phoenix, but will die horrible deaths here. ( I have done this to a few plants in the past.) She has an uncanny eye for arranging mounds, boulders, cactus, pots and figurines in ways that are mesmerizing. There were no hidden surprise costs either. In fact she did more than what she said she would accomplish. Her crew was an extension of her drive and imagination. What a fun time I had watching. I have gone to the Phoenix Home and Garden Grand Tour of the Gardens and that is where we are headed in the future.

Professional from start to finish. Robbie meet with me for the estimate on time and was able to come up with a plan that seemed what we were looking for. Work was started and completed on schedule. Finish product is better than we hoped for and a year latter continues to improve as the plants mature.

Robbie met with us to review our current landscape situation and to obtain our preferences for revised landscape plan-she was very punctual, informative, and helpful. She gave us a written itemized proposal on the spot. Her crew arrived on time when scheduled and were very professional and experts at their jobs. They completed all work on time and did an outstanding job.

Goodroad's service through 2009 was quite good; however, beginning early in 2010, I felt that the service was declining -- advance calls for informing me of planned day of service not always made [though the receptionist denied this], general yard maintenance and appearance declined to a degree, piles of yard debris from raking/blowing twice left in yard uncollected, among other issues. I just wasn't satisfied, and since I had always felt that the monthly service cost was too high, in comparison to what several neighbors were paying for comparable levels and quality of service, I chose to terminate my association with Goodroad. To her credit, Robbie twice called and left messages reflecting her willingness to address any complaints I had; however, I chose not to respond. [Maybe I should get a D or an F as a responsible and cooperative customer!]

Landscaping work was excellent, on time and on budget. Their expertise and customer focus were flawless. I highly recommend them for any landscaping work. They also do an excellent job on the semi-monthly maintenance work, as well as occassional irrigation repair, weed control, etc. We continue to be very happy working with them.

VERY DEPENDABLE AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE. THE OWNERS CALL IF THERE'S ANY CHANGES TO THE SCHEDULE. THE WORKERS ARRIVE HERE AS SCHEDULED. THEY ALSO DO EXTRAS IF I SHOW THEM WHAT I'D LIKE DONE. DO NEED TO WATCH THEM ON MAJOR TREES... JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET THE FOREMAN TRIMMING YOUR BEST ONES, OR THAT YOU SUPERVISE, BECAUSE THEY TEND TO OVERTRIM.
