I am writing this review not only to commend this facility, but also somewhat in penance on my end. In my opinion, this is one of the best veterinary clinics in the area, and Dr. Shackleford has a heart the size of a horse....!
I had had several services provided but almost immediately fell WAY behind in finances due to being my mother's primary caregiver and POA, having too many horses (have downsized!), and due to expenses my daughter's final year of high school.
Chris, in the billing office, was EVER so patient with me.....I plugged along and made payments when I could. Unfortunately, they did have to send a portion of it to a collections agency, but even the collections agency handled the situation with prowess and tact.
They are paid off and I have been so embarrassed about the entire situation, but I think it only common courtesy that I post a review commending their patience with me and my situation.
I phoned TWO veterinarians' emergency numbers that Sunday (one of which is my small animal vet of choice, close by) and received NO RESPONSE at all -- ever -- that day or the next. One vet is McDowell Vet Clinic on I Street (I LOVE this vet -- have yet to call and ask what happened) and the other was Dr. Franz at Pea Ridge Vet Clinic. I can only wonder if they expected someone to want pro bono services since I mentioned it was a stray cat incident and avoided responding. I hope that wasn't the case. Anyway, they lost some business that day.
We managed to and quot;coerceand quot; the almost feral, hysterical cat into one lady's cat carrier and he survived until Monday. I drove to Siloam Springs Vet Clinic where they were VERY busy. However, Dr. Proctor (who had gelded my mini last year) was very empathetic, sincere, and unrushed (this is why I don't mind waiting); he performed an x-ray and we had to make an and quot;educatedand quot; decision to euthanize the cat (implied internal bleeding and a crushed pelvis). I did not know this cat; he had hissed and bitten and scratched out at me in his pain. I spent $105 on a stray cat and I would do it again. The $105 was for the x-ray, exam, euthanisia, and crematory (I had decided I did not have the emotional fortitude to bring him back to my ranchette and bury him, which would have decreased my bill by $20). I find those fees to be reasonable.
The main thing I want to put on here is that I will continue to drive the 30 miles to Siloam Springs Vet Clinic for my horses -- I could write a novel about how WONDERFUL this clinic has been. Dr. Shackleford is my and quot;favand quot; horse doc, but Dr. Proctor sure earned my respect with this cat incident.
