He checked the filter that was 20' high, and realized it hadn't been changed in a very long time, and it had made the system freeze and that's why it was leaking.  He checked the lines and blew them out. And put in a valve, so the drip would not blow inside. He explained to me why he had done everything he was doing. Every time a different company came out before, they would always tell me my free-on levels were low, but when he checked, he said they were fine.  I just felt he was being very honest with me and not trying to just get money out of me.

We called the company on Sunday morning after a very hot Sat without AC.  The answering service (?) answered and said we would hear from someone within 1/2 hr.  The phone rang 20 mins later, was told by the technician he would be at our house as soon as his current service call was completed.  He called again to tell us he was headed in our direction.    The communication was very profession and fantastic.  The repair was done quickly and we were soon enjoying cold air again.  Will be calling again next time we need assistance and/or maintenance.  Thank you!

They responded promptly and during the holidays. This is not the first time we have used this company and other family members also use them for heating and air issues.

I discovered my AC wasn't working around 11p on a Friday.  After looking at Angie's list for the best option to call, I chose Sturdivant's.  Based on the symptoms, I knew all that needed to be done was to change out the capacitor in the compressor - for this reason, I chose the after-hours option with the phone answering service.  The answering service paged them out around midnight and said to expect a phone call.  I ended up falling asleep waiting, and woke up just before 8a with the return call.  He apologized for not hearing the pager overnight, but promised to come first thing - he quoted 1.5 hours.  Bobby was here in 30 minutes!  He quickly agreed that the capacitor was the problem.  He installed a new one and the unit is now up and running!
The after-hours service cost is dependent on distance from their office.  Since I was within 15 miles of their office, it was $105 per hour.  The parts and tax made up the remainder of the $205 ticket.
I would definitely use Sturdivant's again.

Sturdivants Sheet Metal Heating and Cooling have been servicing the cooling unit in our indoor pool room for about 15 years.  Their price is reasonable and competitive.  I do not know if they are the cheapest but they are extremely organized and extremely ethical.  They have a good follow up, they do what they say they are going to.  If something happens they call and let you know, they are very professional.

I had multiple companies quote the work.  The range of prices for similar equipment was very broad.  I was looking for some higher-end features which made made the price higher.  I could have saved a lot of money buying a comparable unit to what I had (cheapest available), but was looking for a quieter system that would last longer and save electricity and gas.  Sturdivants was very good about showing me pricing for different options and their recommendation.  At the time (just before winter), most HVAC companies also had rebates available for system purchases.  The price was good for what I bought, although competitive with the several other bids in the low end of the range.  The price I paid included a credit for the rebate, whereas other companies made you mail in for the rebate (and with 3-4 months).  Sturdivants was very open about references.  The several references I called had done business with Sturdivants over many years with multiple locations (parts of families and rentals).  The references were very complimentary about Sturdviants.  It was also nice to know that given the choice, the references continued to use Sturdivants over others.

Lead time was good.  They had the unit and were ready to install in a couple of weeks even though it was a special order unit.  I also asked for pricing on warranties of various durations (up to 10 years).  They were accommodating in all facets of the process.  When they showed up for the installation, they showed up within 10 minutes of the arranged time and date.  There were two installers, one with much more experience than the other.  The A/C condenser was larger than I had realized, but this is apparently the standard for the higher efficiency units.  I was surprised that while I did not specify the specific A/C evaporator coil, Sturdivants gave me the higher end tinned copper unit, as well.  The install went fine, although a bit slow (because of existing issues).  It was a more difficult install since the furnace was in the attic with a garage pull-down ladder access.  They had trouble with some of my ductwork that had been installed poorly at construction.  They ended up replacing several elbows as well.  They were very friendly and continued through the day.  At the end, they did a good job of cleaning up.  The new units perform very well.  The drop in sound was noticeable immediately.  As well, my utility bills dropped a bit more than expected.  I was satisfied with the price, that while high, was very good for the type of units I bought.  The installation was great and they did more than I would have expected (to resolve some existing ductwork issues) without any extra charge.  The system also came with a 10 year parts and labor warranty (and they even took care of registration for me).  Given the choice to do it over, I would still choose Sturdivants.  They were an all-around professional company that delivered on their service and commitments.

Furnace quit working while cold temperatures were hitting. Called and setup an appointment and they showed up the next day. I explained how it came about and the technician knew exactly what was wrong, explained it to me and fixed it quickly. Very professional.

I think they do good work. The price they provided for the new installation was one of the more reasonable presented to us during the bidding process. In general, I’ve been pleased with Sturdivants.

Overall, I’ve been happy with their service. They are always responsive to my calls and concerns. When you call to schedule an appointment, they’ll give you a timeframe in which their technician will arrive. For example, a timeframe can be 8:00am-12:00pm. I’m happy to say that they’ve always arrived within the timeframes they’ve given me.

Our compressor was giving trouble in our original AC unit and just could not keep up with the heat.  Corey came out to the house, inspected everything, including climbing into our hot attic to inspect all the duct work on a 100 degree day.  He gave me options, and a ballpark figure for replacing the entire unit.  We opted to go ahead and replace in order to get the 10 year warranty.  They were able to come out a day ahead of schedule and were within $100 of the ballpark estimate.  Great service - wonderful folks to work with!

I initially had another company out to take a look at my HVAC condenser.  $80 and two reschedules later I found out that my unit was 42 years old and needed to be replaced.  I was told by the initial company that the type of unit that I had currently couldn't be purchased any longer and I would have to have my entire HVAC system intalled.  They were more than willing to send one of their folks out to measure my home for a brand new unit that I could pay off in easy installments over the next several years.
I then got on Angie's List and called the number one rated HVAC company within a 50 miles radius of my house.  They were very nice, but unavailable.  They did however recommend Sturdivants to me, and I am most grateful.  Corey from Sturdivants came out and took a look at my system, no charge.  He said they absolutely could replace the condenser unit without replacing the inside portion that was just installed in 2003.  He ballparked my estimate per my request and the final invoice was $300 less than the ballpark he gave me.  Brandon came out to install the new 2.5 ton R22 unit.  Both Brandon and Corey were very polite and considerate.  They answered all of my questions; there were quite a few of them.  They checked their feet before walking on my carpet and called before coming out to let me know they were on their way.  My main point is that they were GREAT!!  I am very excited about my nice new efficient AC unit and turned the temp down to 71 yesterday just to celebrate.

Do not use this company.  My experience with them showed incompetence and inconsideration of a customer's time and money.  I called originally with two problems (new a/c unit needed refrigerant recharge and had a drainage issue) and only had to wait about three business days for them to arrive, which was nice.  But upon arrival, the tech spent about 20 minutes with the first issue and did not offer an estimate for charges. (The charge was more than double what I paid for this same service last year.)  When I expressed concern that refrigerant shouldn't need to be added each year and asked about solving the problem long-term, he added silicone threading and a "leak service" charge, on top of the service fee, to the bill.

For the second problem that I'd called about, the two year old system was leaking water and had been before the refrigerant was low, the service tech told me to run the fan overnight and it would "dry it up."  It didn't.  Once I began inspecting and learning about the system myself, I found large gaps in the ductwork and a piece of insulation sitting directly on top of the fan itself.  On my service ticket, it noted that I paid for this to be inspected by the professional.  If this was done at all, it was done with a complete lack of awareness that these are important issues that needed to be addressed on one end and were hazardous at the other.

A week later, still with no usable a/c, as a customer, I was left to go to the net, several other sources of information, and friends, along with hours of my time, to figure out what the tech didn't know or bother to check about the unit.  I found the drainage issue was due to the system not being level--something not caused by the service call, to be for sure, but something that became obvious to me, a single mom with a only few days of internet knowledge.  I fixed it with a jack.

I called Sturdivant's twice to try to let them know about their service visit, (my bill was adjusted $44 for the "leak charge") and then wrote a letter, detailing what I'd learned about the errors in that original visit.  The owner did call back, assuring me that he would "make it right": he sent the same tech back, and I shared with him that the system needed to be permanently leveled (I'd temporarily fixed the issue with a jack). He said someone would call.  Two days later, when no one had, I called and the owner called back later that day.  The "making it right" came in the form of an estimate for another job with them, at over $300 to level it.  If that's making the mistakes and oversights of the first call "right," not to mention the time it took me to figure all this out, No Thanks!  In my opinion, customers shouldn't have to do so much research to solve what experts are supposed to know on-site the first time around.  Save yourself!

Temperatures were below zero and my heating system had shut itself down and I could not figure out what was wrong so I call Sturdivant's on a saturday morning. Within 15 minutes the tech called me and said he was finishing a job and would be there in approximately 30 minutes. He showed up approximately 15 minutes later, friendly as ever even though it was freezing cold. Found the problem was a frozen drain pipe that had not been insulated, fixed it quickly, showed it to me and explained that there would be no charge. These guys are the BEST!!!! :-)

Sturdivant's has honesty and integrity - they are dying traits but oh so refreshing when you come upon it. I had trouble with one of the units from the time I purchased my home and the second unit was 36 years old and I was just hobbling along with it. I had used several HVAC companies over my twice yearly "fixes" to my troubled unit and the prices were all over the map. Sturdivant's had been recommended to me for their honesty and they are. They were always friendly about coming out to help me make it through "one more season" until I could afford to replace both units and their service calls and work prices were always less than anyone elses. In fact, another company put a part in backwards which caused a partial melt down to my AC unit and then they expected me to pay to repair their mistake! Sturdivant's was extremely busy due to an early heat wave taking its toll on all AC units so Rick came out personally. He was so kind, explained everything, listed out various possibilities and ways to handle whatever they might find when they got in there (as far as ductwork goes). Found me rebates and relayed the tax credit information. Was quick with every response time and gave me his personal cell number in the event both systems went out during the heat until my new units came in. His guys came in, explained everything they were doing or did and cleaned up everything, every speck from the job at a price that I couldn't believe. They even gave me information about people for other things I needed done around my house and so far every one recommended has been honest and above board. This company still believes in "giving you their word and sticking to it" and giving you a job well done for a fair price.
