I called him and he came to look at the cracked bathtub to offer an opinion of options and to quote an estimate in a rental property. He quoted $500.00-$600.00 to put in the new tub and surround, if we ripped the old one out and went to Lowe's and bought the tub and surround. We did our part. When he began his work, he opened the tub from Lowe's. It was cracked, so he took it back, not once but twice because 2 tubs were cracked when he bought them. Instead of calling to tell me of the problem and allow me to exchange tubs, he went ahead and charge me the normal $60.00 and hour labor. I was not very happy about that when I received my invoice. The total was $955.00! There was a rediculous charge of $773.13 in labor for a job that took him at most 10 hours, including the 2 trips to Lowe's. When I called to talk about the bill, he did not return my call for 2 days. When he did call back, he left a voicemail saying I have not receive your check yet. (2 days after I received the invoice) I called him again and left another message for him to call me back. He did call me back and left a voicemail saying..I was a sorry mother&#%#* and cussing me for not having the check to him. I called him back and he proceeded to cuss me and tell me he would come to my house and get his @#%^@#$^ money, etc. I told him I really hoped he didn't talk to all of his customers this way... calling and cussing them, only 3 days after they have received the invoice. I told him I will just pay the total and be done with it but i WOULD tell everyone I know not to use him. He is very difficult to deal with.
Response from Hodge Handyman Service
"Unfortunately I remember the Members all to well. The job they are referring to was completed in a timely and professional manner, in which they had indicated to me they were very satisfied with. Unfortunately I had to hire a lawyer, and set in motion, actions to get a court ordered judgement against them to receive payment. It took several months to track them down and they did finally pay before the judgement was complete. The inaccuracies in this review are atrocious."
