Hughes Heating & Air

The unit first failed in 2009 and after contacting Hughes I was told that the unit could not be repaired and would need to be replaced. I spoke with the manufacturer, Heil, who told me it was still under warranty so repairs should be done. He did come and do repairs at that time. The unit failed again in 2011 and I contacted other heating and air conditioning companies this time. I was told that the unit was much too large for my house and that was why it was failing. I was also told to not put any more money into it as it would continue having problems. Hughes also did a lot of damage while installing the unit, using a sledgehammer to clear out a space for it rather than a more precise method, such as using a sawzall with a mortar blade. I had also instructed Hughes to use metal ductwork because I live in the country and did not want damage to be done by critter chewing through the ductwork. It was discovered that they had used plastic ductwork and there was a large hole that had been chewed by possums. I had been paying $300-400 each month for electrical bills, largely due to the hole in the ductwork. I did file a complaint against Hughes with the Attorney General's office consumer protection division, but no resolution was reached. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
