Ask lots of questions. It took me about 4 weeks of getting bids before I made a decision. Since Tim was a "ghost" (nothing out there on him), and he had a very low price, I was skeptical (and fearful) that this was too good to be true.  I asked lot's of questions: Experience (14 years), this type of work? (~40 generator installations in last 4 years), obviously licensed since he works for an electric company, but was he insured when working for himself?  He gave me the name of his insurance agent and I called her to confirm.  He provided references (not from 2 weeks ago), but from 2 years back. AND, the price I paid was EXACTLY what he quoted (no hidden or surprise costs/expenses). Tim and his assistant, Joe, came to my house on a Saturday and replaced an old, overloaded, electrical panel with a new panel.  They also installed the transfer switch for the generator. The job took all day. Unfortunately, the generator was not ready to be hooked up to the transfer switch since the plumber had not yet done his part. Tim and Joe returned 2 days later and completed the final hook-up. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the final product and how smoothly everything went.
