We wound up with bigger problems than we had when we started. Spring storm came through, causing a large tree limb to fall on house. Small leak in entryway, roof damage and cosmetic damage resulted. Contractor was supplied through State Farm Insurance. Contractor claimed to have some form of preferred status with State Farm (this claim was later proven to be false) and started process of roof repair. Leak was stopped; but rest of job like gutter repair, painting, etc. was left undone (including minor damage the person giving the estimate did during estimate) due to claims of heavy workload at the time. In August, finally got contractor on the phone to ask him when they could finish, was told they "already WERE" finished so we agreed the person who did the estimate would come out to verify that it wasn't done. Contractor arrived, agreed that it wasn't done and proceeded to demand payment in full. Refusal on my part led to an attempt at intimidation and veiled threats from contractor (in front of my kids, no less). Told contractor they'd be paid when they finished the work and not before. Bargaining ensued where he asked for smaller amounts of money, then demanded I tell him what I wanted done to complete the job. Told contractor to refer to the estimate he'd provided State Farm and that just painting over half-dollar-sized holes in the trim wasn't acceptable, and that he would not be paid anything until they actually completed the work. Contractor threatened legal action, claimed I "no longer had the money to pay him" and, once again, disappeared. End of December 2011 brought rain and a much greater leak than the original one began. Hired a real contractor who did more work, finished promptly and did so for ~1500.00 less than River City Contractors.

HORRIBLE. Tom Magee does not hire licensed professionals. The siding on my house is falling off, bubbled & cut too short in several places. The french doors do NOT line up, therefore the dead bolt can not be used, pvc flooring was installed without leveling the floor, the job is terrible and the person performing the task did NOT have the proper tools nor a tile cutter. Flashing was not installed so 2 walls in my basement are rotting behind the siding. an INTERIOR door was installed to an EXTERIOR basement entrance, the door has swelled & rotted & is of NO USE. Animals have gotten into my basement because the door will no longer latch. Tom Magee replaced my custom made cabinets with cheap cabinets & he renovated the bathroom so poorly that the bathtub can NOT have a shower curtain on the outside of the tub b/c the fit was too TIGHT. He did not measure properly. Be Warned! If you choose River City Contractors for any job, big or small you will be very DISAPPOINTED!
Description of Work: River City Contractors was to replace the roof and siding, replace exterior basement door, replace windows, paint, renovate kitchen & bathroom & replace 2 floors with pvc, and install 2 french doors.
