when I initially contacted Cabinet Gems, he was in the middle of an installation. He gave me a quick quote via text, and advised it would be a month or two before he could get to my cabinet. I was fine with that, had a temporary solution that worked okay. He came over on the holiday weekend to take final measurements and details, and had the cabinet back to me within the week. The cabinetry work was lovely, and couldn't have asked for a more solid and sturdy unit. The price of for custom work was about the market value, and he was fine with me taking on painting, finishing and installation.

They match perfectly and look great.

Cabinet Gems owner Jim Scroggin is a craftsman of exquisite talent, and he builds cabinets like Michelangelo painted ceilings. Not only does my kitchen look absolutely beautiful, but the wood is top quality, the carefully applied finishes are tested and perfect, the design is thoroughly thought-through. I received preliminary and finished drawings so I knew from day to day what decisions were being made and had a chance to ask questions or offer preferences on every drawer, ever shelf, every cabinet, every pantry, the trim, the bay shoe---every detail is handled carefully, thoroughly, and with a result not often seen in this century. The drawers open and close like silk, every door and drawer are perfectly aligned--I just can't praise the work or the outcome enough. I knew what I wanted, but Mr. Scroggin refined my ideas, added touches that improved the outcome, and was invaluable to work with.
Also, Cabinet Gems followed the progress so that all the complementary finishes--floors, backsplashes, countertops-- and related work such as electrical wiring and plumbing were installed in such a way that the cabinets remain pristine and the other workmen have the easiest time doing a good job. He makes sure it all comes together for a quality installation. This was a massive job in an 80-year-old house and it was a challenge.
I am interested in using them again, because Cabinet Gems also offers remodeling work on cabinets of all kinds--kitchen, of course, but also built-ins in all rooms: entertainment centers, bookcases, game rooms, china cabinets, etc. I understand they perform commercial work in businesses and office buildings, too.
I'm happy because I have a new kitchen that came in at a better price and higher quality than I ever expected. I know the craftsmanship is high quality and will hold up well and look great for many, many years.

Cabinet Gems came out as scheduled and took measurements of my garage. He returned with a detailed drawing of the layout to ensure my expectations were met. We critiqued the drawing, and signed a contract. Again, he returned as scheduled and installed the cabinets. Then his painter came and painted as we had scheduled. I consider Cabinet Gems to be an outstanding cabinet maker as this is the second job he has performed for me. He's professional, punctual, and the quality of his work is outstanding. I would upload pictures of the garage if there were an option so you could see what a great job he did. I'm now hiring him to custom build my master bathroom vanity and cabinets.

Cabinet gems ( Jim Scroggin) built me one of the best cigar humidors in the country. He paid close attention to the detail that I wanted and made my dream of having a custom humidor come true. I really wish I could put pictures of it on this website so you could appreciate the work that went into it. He built it to my exact specifications and made a humidor with clean straight lines and custom shelves complete with dividers and multiple vent holes. He was the only person in this area that could do something like this. I'm so satisfied with the job he did I'm going to send pictures of it to Cigar Aficionado and have him build some custom cabinets for my kitchen. Made in America. Proud to be an American.

He gave me the quote within 24 hours of coming over, waited until I got back with him, then started on the cabinets almost immediately. He is very conscientious and detail oriented. First showed me the drawn plan to make sure everything was correct.
Measured several times to make sure we could make it work due to how my kitchen had been built originally. Offered options and suggestions and brought me samples to select from. He kept me informed of his progress, answered questions I had along the way about what others involved needed to do, and completed the job ahead of schedule. Others who worked here and who saw them
were impressed - cabinets are very high quality and I thoroughly enjoy them. I was very comfortable with him and very happy with
the job he did and recommend him to anyone needing custom woodwork.

He is absolutely the best. He cleaned my house everyday that he worked. He did my entire kitchen out of cherry wood. I have a big kitchen. He built a cabinet upstairs to hold my scrapbook and so forth. He has done great work. He has also done work for my brother. Our friends had a dining table. He came and measured the table and made a table that was 18 inches across the top. It’s a drop leaf table. When we open it up it adds enough seating for six more people. All of their family can now sit at one long table. When they are not using it they can drop the leaves on it and it looks like a little sofa table that goes against the wall. It’s beautiful. He does custom woodworking. He is a kind of person that we wouldn’t mind having around our children. He speaks very slowly. He has made beautiful armoires, tables, and a bed for me. He has made custom wood cabinets and furniture that is made of real wood. He had stained it well too. His work was so good that when a worker came in to lay the granite he couldn’t believe it.
