"As far as we can recount in our records as to who's car this is, we can surmise by the date that we indeed did an oil change on a Volkswagen on May 1, 2015. Our records indicate that that was not the only service we performed. The customer complained of the car being hard to start, so we found that the battery was low, we tested and charged the battery, and recommended that it be replaced. An oil change for this vehicle requires Mobil 1 oil, which costs us $8.99 and we charge $9.25 for the oil. This car used 6 qts of oil, and an oil filter which cost $17.52. We charged 15 minutes labor for the battery and 15 minutes labor for the oil change. For cars of this type a typical oil change costs about $103 however additional work was done on this vehicle. With tax the total price on this vehicle was approximately $123 dollars. I really don't know what the customer was expecting, we don't do our work for free, and we must pay our mechanics a decent living wage. We are honest people, we pay all of our taxes, and our employees are not hired as independent contractors, but as employees and we must pay our share of their social security. We are sorry you feel you had a bad experience with our prices, but as you can see we do not mark up the oil in a significant way. Our labor rates are based on Dave's many years of experience, and our prices are relative to our costs. If anyone could understand the true overhead that a business must contend with, and still make a reasonable living, they would see the need to be competitive. Our prices for our labor are less than some, and more than others who do not have the training Dave has. We hope you will see that we did not in anyway gouge this customer."
"Thank you for your kind words we appreciate our customers and try to treat them the way we would like to be treated. Thanks too for your business, we hope to see you again."

"Thank you very much for your nice review. I know car repairs are hard on the budget, but just so you know, we don't have much wiggle room for our prices. We do run an honest business and have bills that some places don't. We pay for Workmen's Comp, and the mechanics and my social security. They are not hired as indendent contractors so we have to pay their half. We have high insurance rates as well and offer the mechanics some benefits. Many shops keep their prices down by hiring mechanics as independent contractors or doing the work themselves, but legally if a mechanic wears your uniform and works just for you and reports to work at your place of business he is not considered an independent contractor. Also, if we didn't have the mechanics there, our work would get done more slowly. We love to be able to get the jobs done correctly and quickly the first time, yet sometimes it doesn't always work out that way, LOL! Thank you so much again for your kind words, I do hope you will come back for all of your future needs for car maintenance and repairs."
"Thank you!! It means a lot to have a good review from a long time customer."
