Seargeant's Anytime Plumbing

I hired Joe several times over the last 2 years to do a lot of plumbing work on my old home and new renovations. He has diabetes and I felt sorry for him losing his company because of illness. He is still licensed Master Plumber #5359. Sometimes he does not make sense and he forgets things. I have fed him lunch twice because he appeared to be about to pass out. He left syringes with needles on the work site 3 times. He forgot to cover the main pipe coming out of the meter box and it froze up, so we were without water a couple of days. He does not have accounts at the supply stores, so I have to go and pay myself or give him a check made out to the supplier or him with a blank amount. He tends to have different helpers each time, one of which was his son. There were several mistakes made and the pressure was wrong, which cost me more to correct. He and one helper removed 7 sf of rock from the foundation to run the new addition sewer line and did not replace any of it nor shore up the flooring that rock had been supporting. Now all that rock is in piles under my home and I am not strong enough to fix it so I will have to hire someone. At the beginning of the addition job I told to make it all to code and get it inspected. As a master plumber he knew that the work would have to be inspected before the excavation for the new line was closed up, and he failed to have it inspected and backfilled it. Then the inspector happened to drive by and see the digging, so I paid a large fine from the water company because Joe did not have the money to pay it. I had two weeks to rent another machine so he could dig up the line and get it inspected or they would shut off my water. It was winter and we had to keep a heater in the crawl space to keep the pipes from bursting because of the open hole. Once it passed inspection, Joe told me he would finish the rest of the plumbing on the addition for no charge, just some gas money, but now he says it will cost me another $4K. And he still owes me $40 for materials he didn't buy. I am not very happy with the Renai water heater he installed, as it takes a while to kick in and wastes water, which defeats the purpose of saving money on the propane to keep a regular tank hot. We have to run a special heat tape to keep it from freezing and the old one was fine in the same place. I am very disappointed in Joe Seargeant and would not suggest anyone hire him any time.
