Lowe's

Hardware & Home Improvement Stores, Window Service, Floor Cleaning and Waxing,

About us

Lowe’s has been helping our customers improve the places they call home for more than 60 years. Founded in 1946, Lowe’s has grown from a small hardware store to the second-largest home improvement retailer worldwide. Our story began in North Carolina, when Carl Buchan, part owner of the North Wilkesboro Hardware Company, envisioned creating a chain of hardware stores. He purchased the company from his brother-in-law and partner and had the foresight to anticipate a post-World War II building boom. By eliminating wholesalers and dealing directly with manufacturers, Lowe’s established a lasting reputation for low prices. Sales grew over time and we expanded all across the country and now operate stores not only in the United States, but also in Canada and Mexico. Although times have changed since Lowe’s first opened its doors in 1946, Lowe’s values have not— the company remains committed to offering high-quality home improvement products at everyday low prices, while delivering superior customer service.

Floor Cleaning and Waxing
Erratically. From an initial visit from making a down payment at Lowe's, and someone coming to measure. For measurement and assessment of the price, it went from fair, to people coming and putting down what was supposed to be a floating floor and stapling it, and they ruined the wood. A new crew was sent in, and between the old crew that made the mistake and the new crew, there was a failure on Lowe's to order the wood. They simply forgot to order the wood in the quantity that had been ruined to order the replacement wood. In what should have been done in 2 days, took an additional 2 weeks. They estimate on floors a certain amount of waste, because there will be a certain amount they cant use. They are so large, and the people they do business with, that the waste can be passed on to the consumer. When I went to customer service, because they overestimated, I had 8 boxes of wood, and when I went back for a refund, they said they could not take back the wood and give me a refund for the full amount. I asked what they would do with the remaining amount, and they said they would scrap it. So I said, "After all the time and money I spent, you are only going to honor 5 our of the 8 boxes", because they weren't going to take the time to go through what was good and bad. When I asked to get the information for teh regional manager, the store manager came and said they would give me a discount on the next flooring I put in, and I said, "To make up for your mistake, I'm supposed to come back to Lowe's to do business. That doesn't sound like you're honoring my loyalty to Lowe's", because I gave them thousands of dollars on the project I was doing.

The guys that they actually got to do the job did a pretty good job. I've had couple of small issues, but overall, the actual installation was pretty good. However, I didn't really care working with Lowe's; they were difficult to work with. They had a dollar figure in mind that they were trying to get to as far as what they needed to hit their profit goal for the doors. If one thing was found to be less, they kept changing things around and always ended up right around $1400.

Beginning in April 2013 I purchased a full house of Pella windows. I bought Pella because of their product reputation and used Lowes because they were certified Pella installers. Ultimately I am happy with the product and FINAL results but I cannot explain all the miscommunication, starts and stops and tremendous frustration during the ensuing three and a half months. This statement will seem tepid but I simply do not have the energy to explain all the problems encountered. I did such during time in various emails and it was exhausting and I determined I would never do anything with Lowes again. The only reason I am writing here is some sense of obligation to communicate with other potential consumers. I should have sought ought feedback on Lowes prior to starting this project. I was assuming they were copacetic because Pella uses them. Wrong, thanks for playing! I will repeat that the end result is satisfactory in terms of the product and final installation.

We began our search for flooring to replace stained carpet, funky vinyl and water-damaged laminate flooring in the 1300 sq ft of our downstairs. Found several and quot;dealsand quot; around town and on the internet for bamboo and cork, but installation was always a killer since it inevitably would be quoted in the $2 - $3 / sq ft. range; adding $2600 - $4000 to the price of already fairly expensive product. We'd shopped Lowe's fairly early in the expedition and liked some of their flooring; their prices were very competitive as well....but the cost of install was making us reconsider the whole project. Out of the blue, several weeks after we'd been in shopping, Chandler, in the Lowe's flooring department called me and said that he'd noticed a local competitor offering a and quot;whole house installand quot; deal for $400 and wanted me to know that Lowe's would price match that. Wow, from $2600 to $400 made a difference! We would never have even thought to search every competitors' websites looking for specials, so Chandler's call was a lifesaver (and wallet saver). We've been working with him now for nearly 2 months to find exactly the floor and underlayment that we want; he's special ordered entire boxes of several products so we could see what a large section of it looked like in our home. He's been very patient and hasn't wavered from his original price quote of $400 for a whole-house and quot;basic installand quot;. I'm impressed. Obviously, the and quot;basicand quot; install doesn't include the removal, haul away, etc that is part of the process, but then again, neither did the $2/ sq ft. install price everyone else quoted. We've chosen our products and will begin the project soon. I'll post again to comment on the workmanship and flooring, but Chandler at Lowe's was an A+ in my book. (by the way, the whole house for $400 deal only lasted for 3 days on the competitor's website and probably won't be hono
red by lowes either at this point)

Yes, you have to pay in advance. So I asked, and quot;Where's my leverage to make sure the job is done the way I like it?and quot; The salesman responded, and quot;Because we're Lowe's.and quot; Well, I like Lowe's so I went ahead.
I had two casement windows, two double windows, two single windows and a large picture window with sidelights. It took two days and everything looks great.
Jody wilson was our installer and would highly recommend.
My only minor complaints were the windows could have been cleaned better when they were done and a screen was left in the yard. No big deal.
I was pleased enough with the job that I immediately hired them to replace two patio doors. And yes I paid in advance.

There was No Communication Between The Store and The Service Installers.
We were made to 'pay-in-advance' and got the green-weenie because an insuracne co.
had an 'emergency'. We waited almost a month before they (LOWE'S) even started.
I considered our 'job' an emergency. The actual work time to install 8 windows was 4 hours!!

We were very satisfied with them and they did an excellent job. They give excellent service and show up on time. This company works and got the job done in one day. They cleaned up after themselves and I will use them again in the future.
