 + 0 moreMr. Reed and his workers took roughly 3 days to complete the work, as it could not all be done at the same time. I would estimate roughly 72+ man hours went into all of the work that needed to be done. Here is a brief synopsis of that work: 1. A new chimney crown was installed. 2. Organic material removed, a cricket was built to divert material away from the back side of the chimney, and new flashing was installed. 3. A special device forced a fireproof material into all of the gaps between the flue tiles, thus sealing the flue from top to bottom. Most importantly I am extremely happy with the results. Mr. Reed explains everything that needs to be done so that it is easy to understand. Also, he started work as soon as weather permitted and completed the work in just a few days. Only with the flue sealant did his men need to be inside of the house, so there was very little inconvenience to my wife and me.
Description of Work: When I originally called Ye Olde Chimney Sweepe, I didn't know the extent of the problems we had. However, Damon Reed explained everything in detail and it was obvious that we had to repair a number of problems. 1. The chimney crown was extremely deteriorated. 2. Organic material was collecting on the back side of the chimney. 3. There were gaps in between the flue tiles which causes leakage of fire gasses in between those tiles. Those gasses can get back into the living quarters posing a carbon dioxide problem. That is potentially deadly.

Description of Work: Damon came to perform a inspection on my chimney and create a proposal for repair work. He was very thorough and communicated clearly what the problems were and what the options would be to get the chimney in working order. I also appreciated that he was very concerned with fire safety and would only consider repair options that ensure that the chimney meets the highest safety standards.
