Fantastic. Mr. Shook returned my calls promptly and showed up as scheduled. He went to great length to explain what he was doing and why. He gave me options with pros and cons in order to allow me to make the decisions.

James did a great job. He explained everything, answered all our questions, and worked late into the night to get our AC going again. He wasn't able to finish, so he was right back early the next morning to finish the job. He is very knowledgeable, and one of the hardest working guys out there. We are very happy with the equipment that he installed, and he even was able to purchase an upgraded blower for us at no additional cost. I've used Shook's service in the past, and I will keep going back. If you want a polite, hardworking professional HVAC service, James is your guy. I would recommend him without reservation to anyone.

He arrived at 8 am on the day he said he would install the unit. He worked till the air conditioner was in perfect working order. He left at 10:30pm . His professionalism far exceeds expectations. He returned the next day to make sure the heating was installed properly. He completed the paperwork for rebates and tax deductions. We were very pleased with his work.

James Shook installed a new SEER 18 air conditioning and heating unit with 95% efficiency. He took away all the old materials. He rerouted pipes to make the heating and air more efficient than the old unit was. He inspected the ducts and roofing. He gave an upfront quote and did not exceed his price.

He was a few minutes late for the appointment and called to tell us when he would be here. When he was finished he asked if we had further questions and told us to call him if there was any further problem. We were very pleased with the job he did and his professional manner. We will definitely call him if we need hvac work done in the future.

Our AC was not cooling properly. James told us about the possible causes and how to deal with them and approximate costs for each option. After we agreed on the best option, he put a sealer in the system and replaced the Freon that had been lost.

I cannot say enough good things about this young man. On the coldest day of the year that we've had, he came out AFTER dark to try and do an initial inspection and see whether he could get us up and running again. When that didn't seem possible, he came out 3 days later when it was warmer and drier to do a more thorough inspection. He told us that he could fix it and quoted us a price but that he could not guarantee the work for more than a few months and thoroughly explained why. He then provided a quote for a new system that included all installation and a parts/labor warranty. He came out to start the install on that new system 3 days sooner than we were expecting, working until after 9:00 PM. He came back on another day to finish last minute items and do another check to make sure everything was working. When he realized there was some issues with the duct work, he spent extra time trying to band-aid those issues, knowing that we couldn't afford (nor was the weather conducive) to changing out all under-the-house duct work at this time. James is extremely knowledgeable, very concerned with the qualify of his work, and very responsive. I couldn't ask for a better HVAC needs and plan to use him for twice yearly PM service.

James repaired my furnace two years ago, he repaired my washing machine in the past few months. He is very professional and will do a good job at the most reasonable price. I am hoping to have him install a water filtration system for my home since our water is so hard. He explained how it works and it sounds like it will more cost effective than using a water softener. |He is the best service person I've encountered in this area.

Mr. Shook responded quickly to our request for a quote. He came out, discussed various options and provided a quote. His appearance is not professional but he is knowledgeable and thorough. We plan to use his services once our budget is approved for this project.

CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT TIM. I have to admit that I panicked a bit when our air conditioning unit inexplicably stopped working at 8 pm tonight -- the thermometer started heading up toward 90 degrees and since we have two toddlers, and tomorrow is supposed to be in the nineties, I wanted it fixed NOW. My husband and I just bought this house and know that the HVAC unit will need replacing soon, but as we have just been here for three weeks, we were really hoping it wouldn't be this soon! I called James, who called Tim, who promptly called us back and headed over to our house at 9 at night from Springdale (we're in Fayetteville). He could have easily told us that we needed a new unit -- we would have had no problem believing that -- but instead, he set about replacing the capacitator. It took him about an hour, in the dark, in our mosquito-infested yard. Nicest guy ever (took the time to explain everything he was doing to my husband) and we could not believe that the bill was only $100 for a service call that ended at 11 pm. Having just moved into the area, we are delighted that we have found a duo we can depend on for all of our appliance needs and would enthusiastically recommend them to everyone. TWO THUMBS UP AND A+++++!

These guys are a keeper. After several days of rain, an odor from crawl space on Saturday and discovered a few gallons worth of water around the hvac unit in the crawl space. This ia a relative's house, but I am the one to have an Angie's List member, so you know where I went......Angie's! We selected Shook's based on positive ratings and a fairly close location. We passed on other larger companies. James answered the call and said he would have Tim come over - same day, a Saturday no less - to fix the problem after completion of another service call. Tim called with a time he would be over. Communication for appointment time was excellent from both men. When Tim arrived, he was understanding and kind to the family's shy dog. Polite and professional, he immediately got to work, explained each step, was thorough and even took the temperature of ac from indoor vent to make sure it was working properly after being fixed. He gave us a discount on refrigerant for mentioning Angie's List (thank you!). Tim said to call if we had any other questions or concerns. He also gave good advice to save on air filters. The next day (this morning, Sunday), James called to make sure we were happy with results. We are.

Same Day service - fixed the hvac unit that had dumped water into the crawl space. Additionally, Tim added refrigerant, cleaned coils, vacuumed out conduit pipe to remove any possible obstructions, cleaned bottom of pan, added tablets to help rid of sludge.

He was very punctual & if he couldn't make it on time, he'd call & let us know ahead of time. Like I said before, he's a very personable guy & that makes it a lot easier to want to work with him.

We have had James repair different parts on our heater/air conditioner twice within the past month & have a new 'project' for him this upcoming month. He's a very personable guy & a straight shooter. He quotes a price & that's exactly what you pay. His first visit was due to our heater not coming on; he came out the same day that I called him & was able to fix it that afternoon.. The second visit was due to the heater not blowing hot air, I thought it was due to the pilot being out. He came out the day after calling for repair & was ordering the part to fix it before he left our house. While making the second repair he discovered that there were some issues with the way that our unit was installed & said that he could fix it for us if we wanted & that it would probably make a substantial change in the efficiency of our heating/air conditioning. So, of course we told him that we'd like him to fix it.

James is a staight shooter with little overhead who does a great job and really works hard to work with your schedule. I suggest getting several qoutes from (3) several AC companies and then call James and compare.

James came in and inspected my unit thouroughly. I had already had quotes from Bud Anderson and Paschals. His qoute beat them both by hundreds of dollars. He gave me several options and I eventually went with replacing my internal unit and evaporator as well as repairing all of my existing ducting which was never properly propt under the house. He also increased the size of my intakes.

It has been some time, but as I recall one of our heat pumps was not kicking on and off as would be expected, but was not doing it all the time. When he arrived it was working perfectly. The service guy, not the owner, checked it out, called the owner to discuss possible causes, cleaned and serviced both our units, and took the model numbers of the part that was functioning questionably so he would have it along if it failed in the future. He said he did not want to just replace parts to see if that fixed the problem, but to wait and see for sure when it completely failed. It has been 8 months and we have had no more issues, so no further work has been needed.

The parts needed for the repair came in on Friday night and James called and left me a message. He called me Saturday morning to see if he could come fix my furnace and he was here within an hour. Another hour later he had my furnace running. He told me some of the problems with ductwork and pipe that wasn't to code that had been originally installed by another company; the paperwork on this installation was left when I purchased the house. With a weather forecast for low temps and sleet he made sure to get my furnace running so I wouldn't have to keep trying to heat with my small wood stove. The cost for his time and parts was much less than the original estimate I had received from the first person I called and James was much more professional in his communication skills. He is very honest and caring in his job and goes the extra mile to help people resolve their issues. He does not try to take advantage of them; he is very rare in this area and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

My furnace quit working. I called another person from Angie's List and waited two weeks. I called back the person and a couple of days later he just happened to be in the neighborhood and just stopped by late one afternoon. I have an answering machine and never received a message from this person although I had several calls listed on my caller ID from him. Whenever my answering machine came on he would hang up. He gave me a "rough estimate" and I told him to call me after the first, which was a week away, to let me know the actual cost. The next day I received a call from this person, he was returning my original call from three weeks earlier and I had to tell him he had already stopped by my house and I then told him I would call someone else. Since James Shook had made repairs and some maintenance work for my daughter, I called him. I called James Shook a few days later and he came out, on a weekend, to see what was wrong with my furnace thinking he might be able to fix it. It was a different problem than what the first person told me and he had to order the part. He called on Monday to tell me the part wasn't in stock and would be shipped later in the week.

I reveiwed heating and air contractors on Angie's List to find someone to check out my furnace, my daughter's furnace and her leaking dishwasher. I called Shooks because he had several good reviews. He was booked for the next week so I set up up two appointments on the 13. One at my daughter's house and one at my house six blocks away. The appointment was to fix her dishwasher and check out both of our furnaces and the appointment time was for nine am. His technician didn't do a good job and I expressed those views on this forum and when Mr. Shook read it he was not happy that his tech had not provided good service. He made an appt. to provide service and did so in a professional manner and did a good job of communicating his regrets. . He called my daughter and set up another appointment with her, he arrived early, replaced a gasket on her dishwasher and she said he spent considerable time cleaning and oiling her furnace. He offered to do all this for free and I told him that was not my intent to get something for nothing, I will pay for the service. He offered to come fix my furnace at no charge to make up for the problem but I decllined his offer. He charged her only for the cost of the gasket and not his time which is not a good business practice but I really appreciated it and his making things right.

Mr. Shook is a nice young man, but at the time it seemed like he was overwhelmed by his workload. Since then i called for other service but never got a call back from his associate.

It went very well. I would have them back if we have problems in the future. But my advice is: don't call on Saturday afternoon and leave a voice message to call back, saying "I don't think it's an emergency, it can wait 'til Monday." My own fault. (That was the other service I called, not Shook's). But overall, very satisfied with the work.

Yikes. No airconditioning when temperatures over 100 degrees. Called another service who already had a job. They sent Shook's. Arrived promptly and "unfroze" the unit and added coolant. Thank heavens. Told us every step what he was doing and about how long it would take. We were very grateful.
