It all went well. David was reasonable with his prices and knowledgable regarding small appliance repair work. He is a one man band though and if he is on vacation wait or use another service.

I called David after reading reviews here and getting a recommendation from neighbors using the Nextdoor website. He was actually able to walk me through testing the the fridge to diagnose the problem over the phone (NOTE: it was a very common problem that is easily diagnosed for older fridges).
Since he had to order the part, he said he'd call when it came in and would schedule a time to come install. He kept his word...he called. He then called when he was on his way so I knew exactly when to leave work to meet him.
David's responsiveness and customer service were exemplary. His prices were reasonable. I won't hesitate to call him again for any other appliance repair need.

Arrival was punctual and prompt. Explained the problem and provided several solutions. I wanted the immediate stop gap solution and the the permanent solution and he was agreeable.

David is a very punctual and professional service provider. He arrived when he said he would and swapped out the internal coil and outdoor condenser units. This first condenser had a noisy compressor, that I was not impressed with, making me question it's potential longevity. David, took the condenser to the distributor and got another unit to install. This was going above and beyond, as the first unit did function, and its the luck of the draw as to how noisy a compressor is. Well, its been a month and the unit is performing beautifully!
I would use Redlich Refrigeration again.

Returned call promptly, and was going to schedule the next day. When he found out where I lived and he was just a few blocks away, he came on by. Immediately knew what was wrong, and happened to have the part in his van. Could not be more pleased and will use him again for future needs.

We had a small leak, enough to dab up with a paper towel, about once a week from the front left corner of our refrigerator. I decided as a DIYer, I could probably fix it myself, so I Googled and found that leaks generally come from 3 places. After checking it out, I found a small buildup of crud right where the leak was coming from and assumed it was the plastic water line hose at the source. I wasn't comfortable shutting the water off myself and disconnecting hoses, or repairing them, so I called Redlich Refrigeration. This company came extremely highly recommeded from several family members and friends of family as an honest, reliable, and relatively inexpensive source. So I called and David Redlich answered, stating he would be there in a couple of hours.
THURSDAY 6/23/2011
When David showed up, I pointed out the area that was leaking, showed him the deposit on our tile floor, and suggested that I figured the line was leaking somewhere. He proceeded to give the refrigerator the full diagnostics, starting with the lines on the back, then checking the water filter, door jams, drip pan, etc. before scratching his head and wondering where else it could be coming from. After I again, mentioned where the leak was coming from, he quickly found a crack in one of the hoses where I had already pointed out. With a $3.50 plastic connector piece, problem fixed. We also had him change out the water filter, since it hadn't been done in over a year. When he handed me the bill, I was dumbfounded to see a total of $154.21! Broken out it was $48.45 for parts (including a $44.95 water filter), $70 for the service call, $25 for the labor, and tax. I was annoyed but paid it and went back to work.
Later that evening around 3 hours later, when my wife came, she opened the door to find our entire kitchen floor flooded. I came home and we mopped up a ton of standing water and used every dry towerl in the house, then immediately called David back to address the issue. As it turns out, during his diagnostics earlier, he had inadvertantly broken a connection from a hose into the water filter housing and that the plastic housing piece would have to be replaced. He stated that he recalled it giving him some grief when he tried to remove it, but the parts shop was closed for the day and it would have to wait until tomorrow. He shuts off the water supply and attached a temporary plug to the line.
FRIDAY 6/24/2011
Around 5:00pm, David finally shows back up (seems most contractors would have showed up 1st thing in the morning to address a mistake). He pulls out the part and after trying to fix it, realizes that he bought a defective part, missing one of the gaskets. Now it's essentially the weekend, and he says it's going to have to wait until Monday and that we now owe an additional $55.05 for the part, but he'll 'graciously' waive a 2nd service fee and labor. We explain that since he broke the piece to begin with, he should pay to fix it, and added that our tiny puddle once a week was never as bad as the flood he caused. Not to mention that we now have no idea what sort of sub-floor damage was caused in the 3 hours it was flooding. David then responds by stating that he's already spent nearly $20 in gas driving across town to pick up the replacement part and that if he doesn't charge us, he won't make much of a profit. At that point I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He broke something that was working just fine during his diagnostics and out of professionalism, respect, whatever, should have offered to fix it and spared us his pity party. I'm also not sure which neighborhood he lives in, but last I checked every hardware store in the area was open on Saturday... Now we're without fresh water and ice for the weekend waiting on David to fix his mistake.
MONDAY 6/27/2011
Again, right at 5:00pm (probably the last call of the day), David returns, unannounced this time, fixes the part he broke, collects our check, and heads out the door. After realizing that he didn't even level the fridge, I bring him back inside to address that. We had both already lost the energy to bicker with him again about how disgusted we were with his service.
All in all, for a highly recommended source by people we trust, David Redlich was extremely unprofessional, rude at times, and had no sense of urgency in addressing his mistake, letting it linger on for 4 days before finally fixing it. He informed us that his father Larry Redlich recently passed away and he's taken over the family business so I can only assume that his father was the professional one in the family, earning the trust of all our referrals. Either way, we will NEVER be calling Redlich Refrigeration to fix a problem in our house again. Next time, I'll either fix the $3.50 patch myself or call someone else, anyone else.
As if everything else wasn't bad enough, on Thursday 8/18/2011, David finally cashed our 2nd payment check, NEARLY 2 MONTHS LATER!!

Response from Redlich Refrigeration and Appliance
"Gross mistakes in this one. First my father did not pass away, he is alive and well. However, he did retire. Tried to make this customer happy, but she was simply unreasonable."
