Horrible! I used them once and never again! Paid for yearly maintenance and got receipt that everything was paid in full. I called a year later to have maintenance done and front office shows receipt of payment and has now added another bill without my knowledge. They never sent invoice, it was for a service I didn’t have done a year later.
Response from Northside Power And Electric
"I'm sorry that you are not happy. We always strive to take care of customers needs and on occasion it's just not possible. Our maintenance plans include a new battery every 3 years of consecutive service. Your unit was installed in roughly 2013 by someone other than us, and in 2018 you requested service and needed a new battery. This was the additional charge you are referring to, But that was invoiced in the beginning. you refused to pay for the battery used in 2018. During that conversation back in 2018 it was made clear to our office you where not interested in future service. Therefore we wrote of the charges and cancelled future services. I am a little confused by your calling for service in 2020? We are here to help our customers through trying times and insure their generators preform when the utility company's fail. We do have to be profitable to accomplish that for the many quality customers we service regularly. Again I am sorry to hear you are unhappy and wish you the best of luck."

Excellent job of installing adequate sized transfer case and subsequent maintenance. When generator failed during ice storm on New Year's Eve a year or so later a tech came out after midnight and fixed it!

It took a few months to actually get them out to install the generator but after several calls they finally got the job done. Price wise they easily beat their competitors and once present they were efficient and professional. I only wish it wouldn't have taken so long initially and that they would have given some sort of instruction on the generator itself.
Response from Northside Power And Electric
"I do apologize for the delay in getting your generator system installed. This was an unusually busy winter season for us. We do work diligently to provide new installations as quickly as possible while maintaining a workforce that is properly trained in Stand by Generators. Although we could sub contract some of the work, to expedite the installations. We find the overall quality of the installation is greatly improved by utilizing our properly trained technicians. This does however come at the price of requiring additional time to schedule the project during our peak winter seasons. We always appreciate our customers understanding that to provide a superior project while maintaining a competitive price there are necessary trade off's that have to be made. I truly appreciate your taking the time to let me know that our technicians preformed properly and that we need to work on improving our production times. We will be contacting you to provide you with an additional walk through of your system operation and allow time for any questions that you may have as well. Thanks you very much for your business and taking the time to let us know what we can improve. Feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or to address any concerns you may have, now or in the future. Sincerely, Northside Power"

Northside was one of the few companies that were interested in installing a whole house system. Of the four companies I contacted only one other came out. But I  had a hard time trying to get them to return my calls. Northside came out and performed a very detailed review of what was needed. They showed up on the day they said. Job went well, the plumber showed up for gas connection, followed a few hours later by the installation team. The team worked well into a very cold evening to get the generator installed. They tested the generator and performed a whole house test. All went as expected. Very professional group of people. Would highly recommend this company.

Called them because according to the Generac website they are a listed as a POWERPRO Premier provider ... translation: they carry virtually all the parts needed for repairs. I was fairly certain my problem was fuels related (generator would start but then bog down/stall). Sure enough, the technician troubleshot the problem to a faulty/dirty 11-month old NG regulator. He told me he didn't have the part and would return the next day (Wednesday) to remove the bad part and install a new one. Unfortunately, Wednesday came and went, and nothing ... I waited until Friday morning to inquire about the replacement part.  The person I spoke with had no clue what I was talking about; said she would speak with the tech and get my an update later in the day. Not surprisingly, I never got a return/follow-up call.  So I called again on Monday, spoke with the same person, who apologetically explained the tech had informed her there were no gas regulators available at their supplier. I found that hard to swallow, but went along with the explanation. I did some digging, found the part number, called the supplier myself, and they did have the part in stock. Hmmm? The only reason I couldn't get (and install the part myself) is that I'm not licensed, but it's a very straight-forward job. After another week of waiting, I called again the following Friday (now 3 weeks into this ordeal) and I was told the tech had gotten the part and he would be out Tuesday (his normal day in my area) to install it. How fortunate! (yes, plenty of cynicism). Appointment is made for 8AM and at 930 he's still not here. Finally shows up and installs the part in less than 10 minutes according to my wife (I'd already left for work). Incredibly, he tells her the company would send me a bill for 2 service calls. Sure enough, that's precisely what happened. When I called to complain about 2 service calls despite it only being one job, it was explained that the gas and time spent needed to drive to my house required 2 different service calls. I grudgingly paid their outrageous bill, and still feel like I've been robbed. Aside from their atrocious customer service and failure to follow up (I had to continuously call them up), NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I BEEN CHARGED FOR 2 SERVICE CALLS on any job I've contracted! Especially from a provider that supposedly carries most parts, most assuredly an NG regulator, which is a non-specific part. Deal with them at your own risk! I WILL NEVE USE THEM AGAIN!
Response from Northside Power And Electric
"I am truly sorry for your experience but I do need to set the record straight as to the events of your repair. Your call was diagnosed and repaired in 7 working days. call originated on 7-10 diagnosed 7-15 and repaired 7-22. The problem your equipment had was an installation issue with the gas regulator installed upside down allowing water to enter the vent. Improper installations are not covered by the manufactures warranty. This would have possibly been covered by an installation warranty from your installer. On your behalf we did get the regulator warranted through the supplier even though it was installed upside down, so there was no charge for the regulator. The labor charges where because it was an installation defect and not a manufacture defect, and we did not install your unit therefore can not warrant that which we did not do nor will the manufacturer warrant an installation defect. Although the final repair trip was short there was the time in getting the regulator, negotiating the warranty for you, and then installing the regulator right side up so the problem will not occur in the future. Although you termed the charges as service charges they are simply put labor charges for the time spent making your repair. We strive to take care of our customers. Although on occasion there are problems outside of our control such as installations by others that result in faulty equipment operation. These situations can create delays in repairs since we have to locate parts that did not originate through our supply lines and therefore are not normal stock items. We do stock a large supply of manufacturers parts for several manufacturers. But it is impossible to expect to stock every part that someone may install when completing the installation of a Home Stand by Generator. Once again I want to apologize for your experience with us."

I contacted them in November, 2013 and they came to do an in-house evaluation.  They gave two estimates, one for whole-house and a $500 less estimate that would not cover the whole-house.  I chose the whole-house as that choice seemed the logical one given the price difference.  They are the #1 Genreac distributor in the state and given the situations we have had in the state, there was a wait list.  I signed a contract in November, 2013 and the installation occurred February, 2014.  They were very professional, demonstrated the generator and gave instructions regarding its use.  It is remotely checked weekly at a specified time and if anything is wrong an email is sent to them and they come and fix whatever is wrong.  If I'm remembering correctly, there is a 5 year warranty included in the price, with needed oil changes and battery replacement.  It has not been used as yet but if the situation occurs, I will be one of two houses in the neighborhood with power.  Very satisified with their company.
