Heart worm test and exam. Everything was fine.

When presented with the invoice for the cost of the
dental work, it was for $747.00 -- an amount more than twice what I was
prepared to pay and three times more than the high range estimate of $250.00.
I was astounded.
Checking with other owners who had similar canine dental
work done, I found they had paid between $304.00 and $215.00 for almost the
same service, some even getting more services, like inoculations.
The most annoying thing about this ordeal is that the
veterinarian removed ten (10) of my dog's teeth without consulting me before
doing so. This additional and quot;service,and quot; I was told, caused the $250.00
estimate to rise to $747.00. Two observations about this explanation: First,
the other dog owners I talked with also had from five to fourteen of their dog’s
teeth removed and yet the price barely passed $300.00; second, I was never
called to ask if I wanted teeth extracted and what the cost of having the teeth
removed would be -- even though I was asked for a telephone number I could be
reached on anytime during the day of the procedure.
All-in-all, my experience seemed like a and quot;rain makingand quot; exercise. At
the very least, I felt taken advantage of by not being informed of
things being done to my dog that would cost me so much money. Needless
to say, I have no confidence in the Bella Vista Animal Hospital and
would caution others of the possibility of price gouging.

It is a great hospital and the doctor is excellent. She really takes her time.
