He took a long time to even get the job done, a couple months or more. When I went to get it, the A/c was not hooked up, as were the automatic door locks. He tried to say that battery in the key was needing to be replaced for the door locks. I tried the door with another key I had, same result..wouldn't work. He then made it so the door looks worked and the A/C got hooked up. He still said it was the battery in the key that he replaced, yet the other one that I tryed earlier with it and it did not work...now it worked. So he lied about the battery and worked on the hookups. Appartently he did not want to admit that he missed it. The car then had other issues as I drove it home, jerked a lot and it sounded terrible. So I took it back...he worked on it again and did something else and charged me for it. Then I had other issues again with it, took it back and he did something else...I finally ended up taking the car it to another mechanic for transmission work he said it needed. That mechanic said a lot of what the problem was, is that a lot of the wiring and the transmission was hooked up wrong. That cost about 700 to 800 dollars. Just this week it wouldn't start, took it to another mechanic out of town. And he said he had something to do with the timing and that the part that he replaced should have been done with the new engine work that I had done with Ellis. That cost me another $400.00 for that problem. I've talked to many other people, who were not happy with his work. He's a total ripoff and does terrible work. I don't know how he can stay in business. He put out an ad is why I used him...I should have checked around more. If I had I would have never used him. For me, it was very poor quality work, I trusted him to do a good job and I did not recieve it. I could have bought a pretty nice car with all the money I sunk it this Escort. I'll never get backwhat I put into it. I just want to be sure that others don't use him for engine work and go through what I went through. He lied about a lot of things. I ended up with a bad scratch on my front fender and he said it was there. Doing business with him has been a horrible experience for me and my husband. I hope he gets put out of business...he should be. Find some other person to do your engine work, you'll be doing yourself and your pocket book a favor. I wish he had been on Angie's list so I could have known and not had to go through all this. It cost me more money that it should have and it took a lot of time to get my car back in running order. Hopefully after this last fix, this will be end of hearing from the mechanics that Ellis Shop did a bad job.
