Auto Service
I have two cars with over 100k miles on them. Over the weekend, my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee started making a noise towards the front of the engine and started to smoke. I had it towed to Carothers Auto Repair and used their drop box because they are closed on weekends. I drove by early Monday morning and it was already in the shop and the problem was diagnosed. It ended up being the idler pulley that froze up. Now, I am skeptical of the repair industry in general, especially when I don't have the knowledge needed to call foul when a company is charging me for stuff I don't need or "fixing" stuff that isn't broken. I don't have that concern with Carothers Auto Repair. They could have given me a list of things that my 1996 Jeep "needed" and I wouldn't have known the difference. But instead, they were honest about the problem and it was fixed by 10am at the cost of $163. I could have shopped the repair around and maybe had it done for a few bucks less, but for me, finding an honest mechanic is invaluable and worth a few bucks. This is not the first time I've had the same experience there, which is why I continue to use them.

My wife and I both have 13 or 16 year old car. They do everything from oil change, wheel alignment, replacing seals, just every day problems that might come up.

Auto Service
This repair facility is fairly good with alignments and correcting issues; however, I was not too confident in their ability to properly diagnose other more complicated mechanical issues. My primary concern was that the parts quoted seemed to be marked up fairly heavily compared to what I could order the same part for. Also the customer service is subpar. I witnessed the folks at the counter talk poorly about other customers when they left the shop and the female who worked the desk was rude. Since there is so much competition in the Franklin area for auto service, I recommend going elsewhere.
