It has been four years since the project was completed.
  I went to the store, was helped by a knowledgeable sales person. I found several runners that I could use.  I naturally fell in love with the most expensive.  It was a beautiful pattern.
The date for installation was decided and the people came on time. They installed the runner in about two and half hours. 
I had no problems and the runner and work is still beautiful.

The results were seriously disappointing. Carpentry was left unfinished. The actual refinishing of the floor consisted of sanding the floor than putting on one coat of satin water-based urethane. Water-based urethane is not suitable for kitchens and multiple coats should have been applied instead of just one. The kick panel from under the dishwasher was removed and thrown away, leaving a gaping hole. I waited several days for the people to show up. Not once did anyone come when promised.
