Peffer Construction

Peffer Const. Co did A LOT of work at our house - a 2-BR 1-BA addition (660 sq. ft.) and two bathroom renovations. We are very pleased with the work and the results! Mr. Peffer has a wealth of experience in building trades so can readily translate ideas into reality since he knows how it's done. We will definitely call Peffer Const. Co. for our next project. I didn't know what to expect for financing our projects but Mr. Peffer's "pay as you go" for time and materials made for easy budgeting. Of course, there were some unexpected problems/issues along the way, but Mr. Peffer was quick to step in make things right.

I was so happy with Mr. Peffer's work and professionalism. He helped me with the process of selecting a new bath and toilet to fit my needs and style, and gave great advice about fixtures and tiles. I didn't even have to pick anything up; he would run to the supply store or home depot to get whatever I ordered. He and his associates (electrician, tile guy, plumber, painter, glass guy) were prompt and made the whole process easy. The entire remodel was done in just over two weeks, one week of which I was out of town anyway. Mr. Peffer stayed under budget and transformed my bathroom from dated to upscale. Excellent experience. They did a beautiful job. Mr. Peffer and his team followed our plan but also provided great suggestions that made the completed project even better. They cleaned up every day and did all they could to make the impact on the rest of the house minimal. We are happy to give an unqualified recommendation on their work.

Our existing laundry/bathroom was very small so I had Wayne and his crew expand the bathroom and relocate our laundry room. Once my wife picked out colors, vanity, fixtures and layout Peffer Const. began the demo and the job went pretty smooth. The COVID-19 virus caused some minor snags which weren't Wayne's fault. We ended up very close to budget which made me happy and the job looks great which makes my wife happy. I would recommend Wayne and his company to anyone wanting quality work and a fair price.

We hired Wayne Peffer to manage a numbers of repairs on our house, have it fixed and painted, and remodel two bathrooms. He couldn't have been better and has in fact become a good friend. Wayne is himself an expert handyman and carpenter--skills he teaches at Shelton State--who has a wealth of experience and wants every job done right and in in the manner he himself would want for his own home. He also uses first-rate electricians, and flooring and glass contractors. He's smart, affable, and fair; in fact I'd rate him as high on personal character as I would on professional expertise. Easy to contact, easy to work with, costs explained up front--a real gem in all regards. We'd use him again: he's a complete A+.

Our pool breaker kept flipping and Wayne’s crew came right away. They found a loose wire and fixed it in no time. Very fast, courteous, and reliable service!

Wayne is an artist carpenter so I knew he would know how to put together a bunk bed I bought online. It took him around two hours start to finish and he did a great job. Very reliable contractor to have on your side!

Wayne and his crew were wonderful! He was very patient with us, walked us through choosing the tile, light fixtures, and the vanity and even met us a couple of times in Home Depot. He stayed in his original budget and even saved us some money. His people worked very neatly and left the house clean every day. Wayne and his crew are very pleasant people to work with and Wayne is a very trustworthy and reliable person. I will sure use his services again and am recommending him for any remodeling, carpentry, and constitution project!

Our home is beautiful. Wayne and his crew did an excellent job, and we could not be more pleased. We enjoyed working with Wayne and trust him completely. He kept us well informed and guided us through the process with useful and often cost saving suggestions.

We knew the moment we met Mr. Peffer for the first time that we had found the right person for our project. You don't find craftsmen like Mr. Peffer anymore. He is a one of a kind expert craftsman and his attention to detail is second to none. If you have specific customization expectations for you project he listens and provides a realistic plan for how to complete the project and exceed your expectations. We now have an AMAZING bathroom with all the bells and whistles!!! We also liked all of his Sub-Contractors. He knows who to call on to get things done and he holds them accountable for their work. Of particular importance to me and my daughter (we are both allergic), neither he nor his Electrician smoke. We have someone that we can trust that we can call on to help us and that is very comforting to know!!! Our project included: oversized soaker tub; ceiling mounted rain head; oversized custom tiled niche; custom tiled tub skirt; blue tooth speaker/exhaust fan; mosaic tile wall backsplash; wall mounted faucets x2; elictrical outlets with USB; knee kick with quad electrical plug ; soft closure cabinet hinges; in closet lighting; closet shelving; towel warmer; GFI outlets; multi-switch lighting control & dimmer; extra wide crown molding throughout bathroom; chandelier installation with extra bracing to handle the weight; leveling of the walls(furring them out); moving plumbing for both the tub and toilet and widening and replacing the entry door to the bathroom. (The project also included completely redoing the hallway, crown molding and replacing the attic stairs, as we had an AC leak in the attic the week before our bathroom project started. Mr. Peffer fixed it all better than it was before.)

Work looked nice at finish.  went 6 weeks past estimate on time.  I think he had too many jobs going at once.  There would be days that no work was done on house.  

Our home was built in 1947, so the functionality of the closets were somewhat overlooked. He realized once cutting into the wall that he was cutting into tongue and groove board, which made the job a little tougher.  He did a great job from start to finish.  He cut the opening, installed a threshold, and the installed the doors.  This was a one man job since he was stretched a little thin on other projects, but completed ours in a timely manner.  Would use him again.

The project went well.  The renovation was finished as scheduled, with few surprises.  Mr. Peffer communicated clearly with me and the subcontractors, and there were few surprises.  I would certainly use his service again (and I did), even though I might not use one of his subcontractors.

I cannot say enough to express what a wonderfully professional, detailed and efficient construction company this is.  Everything that I have asked for has been done to excellence.  The detail in the work...such as putting up siding and beadboard so that everything matches..is phenomenal.  Always working to find the best sub contractor at the best price.  I am so very happy with everything that has been done so far.  Other jobs are being completed.

Called Wayne and he was very busy but was able to knock out a wall in our house. He cased it in and also put trim up. Very happy with the work.

Mr. Peffer is very conscientious and tried to foresee and prepare for any issues that might arise during the project so there would not be any surprises.  He kept me informed throughout the project and was always available to answer any questions. I am very pleased with the work performed and will call them for future projects.

Wayne is our ?project manager? for the remodeling of 2 bath rooms. His response to SMS is always fast and prompt (at one instance, he replied immediately around 1am even though nothing is urgent and we did not expect a response until next morning). He is well organized, always shows up at the time he says and keeps us in the loop of the plan and the schedule. He is willing to directly meet with us in Lowe?s or Home Depot to choose or pick up necessary materials or let us know beforehand about what is missing so that we have time to order online. He is pretty handy and help us fix many unrelated little things (such as changing the locks, fixing a busted pipe, adjusting the drawers, fastening the pull-down stairs, etc). His charge is acceptable. But since there is no comparison in Tuscaloosa and I don?t have much experience with construction, I have no idea whether the rate is reasonable although I think so.

I think that they were very professional. They did good work and had a good understanding of what they were doing. They did a good job. I have not had any issues since. I would use them again.

It was very good. I thought the price was very reasonable. He came when he said he was going to come and got the job done. He was very careful not to break up the tiles because they couldn't be replaced as the house is 50 years old and we're not likely to find tiles with the same color.

Pefffer Construction has done work for me on several project over the past 10 years. They have remodeled a bed room and bath room along with adding a large closet and computer room. they have remodeled another bedroom for me. They constructed a 1400 sq ft. master suite addition that included a below grade Tornado Safe Room with a very nice interior stairway leading to the bunker. the addition also included two toilet rooms and a Spa Suite. While doing the addition they remodeled the laundry room so that i can use two washers and two dryers. he also replaced some windows and doors while remodeling the house. several years later we were hit by a tornado (so we got to use the shelter). Peffer construction showed up as soon as they could get through the police lines and started patching up the house. They met with our insurance adjuster and rebuilt the damaged part of our house while we were still living in it. 12 days after we were hit by the tornado a second major tornado passed within 1/2 mile of the house and the peffer crew (who were repairing the house), our neighbors and our family all found shelter in the Safe Room.
Peffer Construction is very eazy to work with and the craftmanship is the best you will find.

Wayne had done an addition to our house 6 years earlier and had added a underground Tornado Shelter with a master bedroom above it. We were in it when the tornado of April 15, 2011 hit our house.

During the tornado of April 15, 2011 our home was damaged by trees and limbs hitting the house. A large tree smashed some of the roof rafters and sent limbs thought the roof and into the up stairs bedroom. Wayne was on site at first light the day after the tornado (once the police would let him into the area).He had an electrican working with him so that they could disconnect the section of the house that was damaged and make it safe to put power back on the house once the power company finished their work.

Twelve days later while Wayne was working on the house, the April 27, 2011 tornado that hit Tuscaloosa came withinm 1/2 mile of our house and ten people (my family, the neighbors and Wayne) spent some time in shelter that wayne had built for us 6 years earlier.

Over the next few months Wayne and his team pulled my house back together and repaired and remodeled several rooms. He kept me informed and updated so that I was never wondering what would happen next or what I needed to provide to keep the job moving.

Peffer Construction is a small company with very dependable sub-contractors. They give personal service at a great price. They take on a few projects at a time and do the higest qually work. Please keep in mind that they have other clients and have to serve them too so its up to work out a schedule. If they are not on your job some morning they may be on mine. You will have to learn to share.
