Custom Hardwood Flooring

Our #1 choice was booked so we engaged #2; Custom Hardwood Flooring. A good sales presentation and a signed contract included "I'll start in 5 days. Have everything out, and no need to call me. I'll be there bright and early." The next call was "I can't start then". But on the day he did show, he dropped his equipment and left - no work done. Day three he worked two hours and left. Next day - no-show. All the while we are living out of our GARAGE! When asked about hitting his completion date he alleged "I do this for a living. If I need to work on through, I will - no Sundays or holidays". Day 5 - worked three hours. Day 6 - Came to stain without fine-sanding, and never touched the second floor. "Oh I decided not to do the second floor" WHAT?! We fired him because we didn't want to spend the next month in our garage! Then, get this, he said he "could have finished the job in 4 days but then everybody would want him to work that fast" Get OUT! We should have seen the early red flags such as no answering machine and using his wife as helper. Professional stainers use three experienced craftsmen to do the job right.
