The original price they quoted us was $5,000.00, but we let them know we just couldn’t afford that. The owners wife called us back and let us know that as fellow Christians they discussed that they needed to help us out and they dropped the price to $3,500.00. They wanted ½ upfront and I paid them cash so that they would have cash for themselves. I did want a receipt which I got. When we pulled up Mr. Addison asked who was going to help unload everything and we told him we hadn’t planned on unloading as that was not part of the job. He said if we wanted our furniture we had to help unload it. So our ill neighbor, his son, myself and my husband helped Mr. Addison unload the truck. He was very abrupt, he scratched our furniture and nicked our walls. I was very upset, but I was trying to be very Christian about it. I was very angry at the end of it all though. When we were done he asked for $3,500.00 and I told him I had already paid him ½ up front and he told me that was not our agreement. I refused to pay him anymore than that. His father who came with him was unable to help move because he had suffered a heart attack 5 years ago, but was walking around smoking cigarettes. This experience left me so upset. The worst is that they use their child in their advertising saying “My daddy will handle your move as gently as he handles me”. They also use their Christianity to connect with you. I’m not even sure that his wife is aware of how he acts, because she tried very hard to work with me, but he acted like he had never even talked to her about any of it.
Description of Work: My husband lost his job and we needed to move from Atlanta, Georgia to Maryland. We had a piano that needed dropped off on the way. Four people and the owner came out and did a wonderful job packing. They did it very quickly and I was very happy with that. One person dropped off the piano and my sister; the recipient said they just kind of flung it in there. I was surprised by this since they packed everything so well.
