OLSHAN FOUNDATION REPAIR

I have used these folks on three separate occasions. The first time to do a leveling. The rear part was fine, but I had to have a brick mason come in to redo the front properly. I have spent over $10,000 to fix the problem, and still have it. In addition the frustrating part is their lack of customer communication, and follow-up. I have called multiple times before receiving a return call. Then it takes over 2 weeks to get a representative out to the house. On the phone they are courteous, and obliging, but it is show , no go. I feel like an idiot for using them, but the only other option seems to be the Redeemers group, and i used them once, and was just as unhappy.

Customer service guy did a great job, and recommended only the drain in the crawl space as opposed to the drain plus sealing up the crawl space recommended by other vendors I considered.  This saved me quite a bit of money and accomplished the needed moisture reduction. Their "finish up" after the job was completed was a bit bothersome, and I found them to be far less responsive after they got their money than they were leading up to and during the job. That said, I would use them again, but would get better clarification of the "finish up" before I gave them their final check.

Foundation repair performed in 2009 failed. Approximately 2 years after the repair, removing the finished walls over the repaired area revealed new cracks in the foundation. The metal plates for the repair were no longer flush with the wall, and one of the anchor rods could be pulled completely out of the ground intact.
Olshan repeatdly rescheduled an appoinmment over a period of weeks. I finally hired someone else to repair the foundation. A letter written to Olshan 11/2012 remains unanswerd.

I contacted Olshan because of some serious concerns that literally wake me up at night.  There have been significant issues with my 7 year old home, and many issues with its builder.
My biggest struggle has been not knowing who to turn to for clear assessment.  Ive researched significantly, but theres nothing like industry experience.
Unfortunately, so many companies see a price tag when they look at homeowners like me.  Prior to contacting Olshan, I had reached out to some other individuals, and they were either rescheduling frequently, or sent an inexperienced person who quoted me 5-8k to start.  Any question I asked was either met with a redirection or host down.
The contact methods, phone calls and follow ups were very professional and organized.  When Bud arrived, he was  immediately attentive, intuitive, and conveyed years of experience in the scenario.  Most important of all, I didn't feel like he was looking for my wallet :). As I relayed my concerns it was quite an education.  Id found I was right about some things, wrong about others.  What impressed me the most was that my situation really didn't warrant a large scale project at that time.  There are things I can do to correct and monitor the situation.  Bud spent a great deal of time with me, and followed up with me when he had an additional thought.  He gave me strategies to deal with what  situation I had, when to know its time to follow up and call, and actually asked for some feedback on how a particular item turned out.  I really identified with that request because it showed a willingness to learn about a difference scenario, to gain more experience. 
What amazes me most, is that it was a free consultation.  I have no doubt that if my situation was worse, we would have discussed treatment options, but to have a company treat me with respect like that, I just can't express how wonderful it was.
I would have gladly paid for that consultation yesterday.  Bud's time, experience, and overall ability to put me at ease literally made me feel like I have some control over the situation.  Its a personal thing to say, but I almost felt like I was being mentored, and that direction has made me so much more assured what direction to take.

Everyone I worked with at Olshan was very helpful, courteous, and professional. Tim Braswell who came to the house and provided the quote for the job of preventing water from entering and building up in the crawlspace. He advised me on what needed to be done and even provided information on what he would not recommend doing with explanations as to why so that I would have enough information to make a decision when comparing estimates from other competitors. I researched a lot of what he told me and soon realized he was accurate in everything he told me. I called and talked with Kathryn to set up the appointment. She was very helpful in explaining how the payments would work and detailed as to who would be arriving at my house and when to expect them.  I decided to go with the installation of a french drainage system and pump. Omar and his team arrived Friday, July 13, 2012 to begin work on cleaning out the crawlspace (removing an old heating/air unit from under the house - which other contractors had indicated could not be removed, removing old piping that was hidden under the old plastic sheet, and removed other debri/garbage that was under the house) and explained everything they would be doing. By miday day they began digging for the placement of the french drainage pipes within the crawlspace, began placing the pipes, and surrounding it with hauled in gravel. The digging and gravel placement continued over to the second day. After the drainage system was in, Omar and his team installed the pump and drilled through the concrete to install a pipe to route all water captured through the drainage system out and away from the house. They were careful to dig through the landscape in a manner where the grass could be replaced with no real visible signs that it had be disturbed. Once this was complete they placed a vapor barrier that covered the entire floor of the crawlspace. Before leaving Omar and his team made sure all of the debri from the crawlspace had been hauled away and that the work area had been completely cleaned. Omar then went over everything they did, showed me everything I would need to know about how the system works, and made sure I was satisified with the job.

As they never called after the young man left there is nothing to report

They made no attempt to cover walls or interior.

This has been frustrating. The first manager I spoke with misquoted my work. The second manager agreed to rectify my situation, but has failed to deliver any paperwork indicating what job he actually did. I called their regional managers 3 times in the past month to get my paperwork for this work, but have received nothing. I would not hire them again.

Our 50 year old ranch had a corner that had been settling for several years. The cracks and a stuck door finally got to the point that we had to do something. We received quotes from another company and Olshan. The other company suggested 4 piers and would take 2 days to install. Olshan suggested 3 piers, would only take a single day, and was half the price of the other company. Olshan's price, their piering system, and a neighbor who was not happy with a job the other company had done on their house convinced me to go with Olshan. The Olshan crew showed up at 9:00 AM sharp. They broke out three holes in the concrete patio, dug down almost 5 feet, put in three CableLock Plus piers, backfilled the holes, and poured concrete patches in the patio. They were done before 5:00 PM. The piers did a great job and mostly closed the gaps in the brick and made a noticeable improvement in the door and windows. Only time will tell if they stops any further problems, but I feel good about them now. They removed all the waste from breaking the concrete, kept the dirt they dug up on a tarp, moved the leftover dirt to the other side of my house (I intend to use it as fill) and cleaned up the site before leaving.

Very good. He said that they could put in piers, but that he thought it would be better and cheaper for us to slab jack the space. He gave me some referrals for that work, and some suggestions about how to make sure it's done properly. I thought he was very honest and I appreciate that.

They told me that is wasn't a problem with my basement/foundation. They told me that it was my fireplace and that once I get that fixed if I had any more problems to give them a call.

We were led to believe that because this company was known nationwide, their work would be of high quality, and how wrong we were. They gave us an estimate, and we were glad it was in writing because we had to call them to our home four different times. Our basement was in worse condition when they were done than before we called them. Their work was very shady.

This company sub contracted out but I felt it was their responsibility. The work itself was just fine and they cleaned up their mess when they were done. We had a ladder that was missing when they left and for that reason I would not use them again.
