We just needed someone to turn the water off, but he didn’t know how and said there was no shut off valve.  He shut off the water to the whole house but I was able to dig down a little bit and find the shut off valve to the sprinklers.  We used Buddy in the past and he was good, but when someone else who works for him came out he didn’t know what he was doing.  I still had to pay for him to come out, but I had to call someone else to do the work.  They should have sent someone out who knew about sprinkler systems since they knew that was the problem.

This problem had happened several years ago in the same place. I remembered roughly where to find the water line and considered doing this repair myself but was willing to spend some money to keep from getting wet and dirty. However, I was not prepared for the exorbatant fee for a repair that required little technical expertise other than how to dig a hole and push the ends of two pieces of pipe into a quick connect compression fitting. At $390 for the repair, he earned more than $100 per hour. I only make a third of that teaching people how to fly airplanes. I was further surprised at the suggestion that I should wait for the dirt to dry and that he would not be returning to refill the hole. It was two days later, during the refilling of the hole, that I discovered the he had not properly replaced the box around the sprinkler system valves so I had to dig that back up and reposition it. Overall, I can say that the leak was fixed by a nice enough fellow who just did not seem to grasp that high plumber fees should garner more than just the minimum amount of work possible. Charge me for the work but make an effort to leave me feeling that I am getting more than just a hit and run.

They returned my call promptly and set an appointment for the next work day, but I canceled at the request of my husband. He wanted a chance to do it himself. So far, he has not. The owner did forget to check his voice mail and sent his employee out despite my canceling the day before. Had it been a real appointment they would have been 15 minutes early. I will consider hiring them at the next opportunity. They would have been prompt.

Buddy did a great job at a reasonable price. I woke up to find water in my hallway and in a closet. I found a pin-sized hole in the copper piping and immediately used Angie's List to locate a local plumber with a high rating. I was in a hurry to get it fixed because I had to cut the water off to the house to stop the leak and I needed to take a shower so I could get to work. I called Key Plumbing and left a message and they called me back within 10 minutes. They said they would be out in 30 minutes (but it took an hour - my only small complaint). He quickly fixed the piping and while he was out here he repaired a leaky faucet in my master bath tub and repaired some piping coming from my a/c that he noticed wasn't sealed well. The total cost of the repair was about $165 and he didn't charge to repair the a/c piping and only charged $20 to fix the leaky faucet. I will probably use him again in the future.

My husband was due in for surgery when I noticed the leak. It was the main line where our property connects with the street. The yard was beginning to flood and the water was running down the sidewalk and driveway. I called and left a voice mail explaining the situation to the company. I also said I was in route to the hospital. I tried calling again later that day from the hospital. The plumber called right back and said don't worry Mrs. Hollingsworth, its fixed. This company went above and beyond to help us this day. He took the situation into his own hands to find the leak. Dig it up and patch the pipe. When I got back the water was gone. I mailed the check right out. It was only $150 for that kind of service. These guys are the best.
