Had a late service call ($225) and worker inspected system—no air coming from vents. He came inside saw no air forced air and went outside and into the attic. First said, "No problems," next, "Needs a new fan motor," next I suggested he check the fan capacitor--he confirmed a low amperage, and replace the $15-30 part. Total cost: $325. 13 days later, same problem. Asked for a refund of just the service call because we weren't satisfied and didn't trust them to fix it. Manger declined, "Saying during 14 days anything could happen. Another, less expensive company diagnosed and replaced the defective blower for less than the Durham Service Company's work.

Excellent.  The person that provided the estimate was very professional.  He did not try to upsale us into a long term extended warranty which other companies did.  He came back with the installers to ensure everything was done correctly and that we were happy with the work and their employees.

They were great. They came out as soon as possible when my air conditioner went out the end of summer. Their installation team did a great job. They were quick and they cleaned up after themselves well. Their installation team actually put a little mulch for beautification around the unit, which I've not seen, so it was much appreciated. They were the cheapest.

This company we have used for over 20 years and two different homes. Quality of workmanship is outstanding and they stand behind their work. Totally trust worthy. Utility bills run under $200 per month for 4000 sq ft home on crawl space.

Yesterday the AC unit suddenly stopped working and found that the tray under the furnace is filled and float switch stopped the unit.We called the service person (Conditioned air company) and he performance complete maintenance and found that the refrigerant is very low (remember its just 3 yr old unit) ,he was surprised to see such leak in new system and also filled the almost 5 pound (corrected my comment from gallons to pounds). He said either there is a good leak or they did not fill properly during the installation,both leads to Durham.
Today i called them and asked if they can come-by and have courtesy checkup (as they did this installation) and analyse/look for actual cause. The response was very straight forward and not good.If you do a good business it suppose to be on service end also . If there is a mistake that could have happened why not re-look where the issue is ? (that's how you build your business and gain customer confidence in your service)

"Mr. [removed member name], we did perform the original installation for JBH over three years ago and we do provide a one year labor warranty on all new installations. We have no record of any service request for this system in that three year period. To ask us to perform a free service check on a system that has operated for three years and after you had another company to perform service on the system, is an unreasonable request. HVAC systems can and will development refrigerant leaks, especially in the evaporator coils. This is an industry wide issue among all HVAC equipment manufactures and in most cases the cause is due to fulminary corrosion. You also stated that the other company installed (5) gallons of new refrigerant. Just to let you know that a system does not hold (5) gallons, most residential systems will hold between (3) to (7) pounds of refrigerant depending on the size of the system and the total length of the refrigerant piping circuit. I do regret that you have had an issue with your system and if we can ever be of service I would hope that you would give us a call."

Very professional team. Some oversights were immediately corrected. They underestimated the level of effort and cost somewhat but were very accomodating to get the work done without cutting corners. Job took a lot longer than expected so that was an unexpected inconvenience to them and to myself. The owners were personally involved and the final inspection was done by one of the owners himself. That is a first for me to see the senior management so involved and a big Plus. I wish more of these contractors in the Madison/Huntsville area were this thorough and professional. . Clean crew, very professional, clean attire every day and very respectful.
they were not the cheapest in town but after having a parade of cadidate companies provide suspicious estimates these guys were head and shoulders above the rest.

I lost my air conditioning the weekend before I called companies asking for repairs. The first company diagnosed the problem and confirmed it with me. The reapir would be costly, up to 3000, on a system that was out of warranty. I got three quotes for installation of a new system ranging form 5200 - 6200 in and out the door. Durham gave the best quote and for installing top of the line American Standard. They were able to schedule me next day due to having no air and a baby. The instal crew showed up at the expected time and got right to work. When everything was complete I was amazed at the quality of their work. The outside instal even looked aesthetically pleasing to go with the quality of their work. I will use Durham for my future maintenance needs as well as recommend them to anyone!

I made many attempts (more than 6) to contact Larry Durham for status of the 10 yr warranty; was it with American Standard or Durham and was a cancel/rebate process an option. Mr. Durham NEVER returned ANY of my contacts. Although a couple of times I was contacted by one of his employees, they couldn't answer my question. When it came time for the new house to be built, Durham's quote to install the HVAC was over $10K more than the next lowest bid and their methods and products were not different from other bids. When they found out they were not getting the job, they were not cooperative in getting my and quot;stored unitand quot; picked up and transferred to the successful bidder. To date, March 2, 2012, I still have no resolution of the 10 yr warranty issue ($600-$700) from Durham. Until this issue, I always enjoyed dealing with Durham and believed their service to be a quality product.

My air conditioning stopped working in the middle of our heat wave. After researching Angie's list, I picked the Durham Service Company. I called and my call was answered by a real person. The quickest they could have one of their technicians out to my house was the next morning at 7:30. I thought this was pretty quick considering it was already 10 in the morning when I called. Much to my surprise, at approximately 5 pm the technician shows up at my house. he explained that he would not have wanted to spend the night without ac so he worked me in. The man actually came to my house after his work day was done. He was on his way home. He quickly diagnosed my systems problem, made the repair, (he had the part on hand), finished the paper work and was gone. He was very professional, new his stuff, and I'm a new customer!

I was very happy with their work. Their service and responsiveness were good. I spent around $7000 on that job. They were very responsive and responsible. The price was reasonable. I got more than I paid for. They are one of the best companies I have dealt with. They did a super job all the way around. I am already thinking of replacing another unit by them.

We have used them a lot to repair our units in the 10 years that we have lived in this house. We don’t have a contract with them. I don’t know how much we spent the last time they were here but I know that the service call is about $90. They are very professional. They come out promptly and do a good job of fixing the problem without over-selling you. They’ve been in business quite a while and they are very trustworthy. They try and give you an honest opinion of what you need to do for your repair without going overboard. A couple of times they were able to fix the unit upstairs, while someone else would have had us replace the compressor or something major like that. I would continue to use them in the future.

One night in August I discovered that our AC had stopped working. First thing the next morning I called the company that installed it (we have an 18 month old house) and got a message that they were out and would I please leave a message. So, I left a message. The next day I still had not heard from that company so I called and left yet another message. That afternoon I still hadn t heard from them, so after a recommendation from my daughter, I called Durhams and actually got to talk to someone. They were so nice and professional and so sorry that my AC had broke in August but could not send a repairman until the afternoon of the next day. The next afternoon the repairman showed up on time. He looked at my AC and determined that it was the compressor that had gone bad. He also found a fuse on the heater that wasn't working. He didn t have the brand of compressor that I needed with him but the next morning he showed up with a helper and the compressor I needed. He he filled and replaced the compressor, replaced the fuse and cleaned the AC. The repairmen was friendly, prompt and courteous. By that way, I still have not heard from the AC company that originally installed the air conditioner - guess they don t want my business. I will call Durhams from now on.
