PRO-BUILT CONSTRUCTION INC

For fear of a law suite I rather not go into the story. You will have to trust me on this, do not buy from Pro-Built/Eddy Wiggins.

Mr. Owen was rarely at the job site to supervise construction, and when the house was well along in construction he unilaterally changed our agreement from fixed price to "cost + ten percent." He told me that I could accept it or take it to court, and as that would likely have taken a long time, I had to agree to his change. I understand that one of his subs even told my wife that he was told by Mr. Owen to use more hours to increase the cost, which would increase Owen's income. I finally had to tell Owen to cease work, and I had others finish the work. There were many problems with the house, most of which Owen would never correct. Examples include improperly installed parquet flooring, causing it to warp and separate every winter; backwards installation of fireplace "heatilator" fans, so that they blew down and toward the fireplace; cracked driveway; uneven ceiling in the upstairs den; damaged bath tub; poor materials in the deck, leading to warping & cracking of the posts and decking and exudation of resin from the wood; separation and lifting of vinyl flooring in the kitchen; separation of window weatherstripping from some windows; no overflow drain outlet for the water heater; trees left under the driveway rather than being hauled away; and leaving no opening to a crawl space, which lead to one having to be made to allow access to leaking plumbing. Also, early in the construction, the opening for the door to my downstairs garage was built smaller than the plans called for, leading to difficulty in my getting my boat in and out of the garage ever after. Construction also took substantially longer than had been promised, causing difficulty for my wife, my daughter, and me, and my parents who were to live with us. Needless to say, I could never recommend this builder.
