Did great job!

Initially called to set up an appointment for an estimate, didn't show on the first appointment. When we called to find out why it was rescheduled for 25 May 2017. The appointment on 25 May was kept and when He showed up he was very nice and attentive to what we were planning on doing in this remodel. He walked the entire house, took measurements and wrote his notes. He provided me his card and then said it was a good bit of work but he would work up the estimate and have the numbers back to me within a week. After a week, I had not heard or received anything from him. After two weeks I called and the office clerk took my name to research the issue. At first they said they couldn't find where he had ever been at our house, then they found the appointment but said he had been busy and was still working the estimate. After another 3 weeks I called, they still had trouble finding my file and he still had not completed the estimate. I waited until the end of July, called back and still had not completed the estimate and the owner never got on the phone to explain or offer an apology. After this experience I mentioned the company name around a few friends that had home improvements done and it was a consensus that A&J Home Improvements was not a company to do business with.

The bathroom looked awesome except for the paint job, which was not professional. The last day was supposed to correct this, but the painter left it in worse condition by painting hairs into the trim and not correcting bare spots and areas where trim paint overlapped onto the wall. In the end we discovered that one painter had been in the house alone and "allegedly" taken property/cash. The way the owner rectified this situation was to never ask us for the final $1800 due and never speak to us about the problem after the police report was filed (or ever again). This was a huge blow because I had a good deal of confidence in the owner at the time.

They did an excellent job. I thought they were a bit expensive for the size job but did a good job.

It was done with great detail to the finished project.

This is an extremely professional team. The owner/manager, Mr. James Koch, communicated each step of the process, provided a detailed Quote of services to be expected and scheduled the skilled worker(s) for exact times to arrive and complete their part of the project before the next skilled worker(s) arrived to complete their part of this interior project. There was minimal impact on the family's schedule and functions within the living room. The workers worked quickly and the work was pristine; they draped the traffic pattern from the entrance door through the foyer and the path through the living room to the area where work would occur. It was enjoyable to observe the process and the detailed choreography by the owner/manager. The workers were professional and all were enjoyable. The room looks great, the painting is beautiful, neatly performed and we are very proud of it. We will certainly want to use A & J Home Improvements again.

Just horrible I missed two days at work just to met this man for a estimate.the owner James returned my first phone call set an appointment and never showed up. I called him and he didnt return my phone call for two days. I was given some lame excuse and another appointment was set and he missed that one too. I never tried to contact him again. Later talked to the people in the tile department at lowes who referred me and told them what he did. They told me, I wasn't the only person to complain about him. They told me I was lucky to even get him to call me back.

Build a deck and repaired a door/storm door that was left unfinished by a prior contractor. Was very pleased with their work and the friendliness of the team. In addition they build doors for my decks to keep the dogs off. I am very happy with J&L and will definitely used them again.

James Koch is great. He and his workers were diligent and hard working. Very respectful to myself and my home. I would definitely recommend them and use them again myself.

When this house was built 12 years ago, the master bath must have been the left over/afterthought because it was not functional or attractive at all. We hired A & J to come in and create both. The contractor is very creative and made some very nice suggestions and helped us think through all of our possibilities. We picked out our colors, tile and granite and he started to work. He was on the job site almost daily helping his workers and making sure they did their jobs well. I even overheard him make one worker tear something out and redo it because it was not up to his standards. Our own standards are already really high, so I was very impressed that he did that before we could come in and make the change ourselves. He was very professional, very punctual and very sensitive to the fact that they were "living" in our home for four weeks with us while doing this job! We paid them weekly in approximate fourths so that we paid the last fourth on the last day of construction. The bathroom is beautiful now and something I am very proud to show off!! I wish I could download a picture here!! I HIGHLY recommend this company and will most definitely use them for our next phase of "The Great Remodel" of this house we recently acquired!!

All the work went very well, The areas were kept clean and tidy, there were no problems or complaints at all.
