The women in that office were very attentive, and quite frankly, a little embarassed by the way the one man in the office handled things. I ended up walking away from the whole incomplete deal. It was like the mortgage broker was not at all willing to do his due diligence to earn my business. I knew the market; I knew that values of homes were going down, and since I wasn't selling, but just refinancing, time was of essence! But he not only dragged his feet, but assured me that my home would not meet the criteria to refinance at the price I sought. He supported his arguement by referencing the INCORRECT appraisal!!! Repeatedly, I pointed out that fact, and he would respond with surprised shock, as though he was hearing this information for the first time! This behavior made me wonder, at the very least, if this man was stable. As stated above, this dragged on for 2 months, and by then, my home had dropped from $107 per square foot to $103 per square foot!
