The city came around and did a smoke test to see whose lateral (sewer line) was leaking. It's on a street of old houses and of course my old clay pipe lateral was collapsed and of course it was 5'-6' below a concrete driveway. Estimates to repair were in the thousands, if anyone was really interested in doing the work. I finally resolved to dig the hole myself to so that those giving estimates could see exactly what had to be done. It about killed me, but once the hole was dug, it was a simple but still difficult repair.
I asked the boys from the city, who kept coming by to check on my progress (nice of them I know), who they recommended. They gave me Mr. Roy's name. He and his crew showed up on short notice, did the work in the time promised and worked with me on the price.
