I contacted McGriff Automotive after seeing positive reviews on Angie?s List.  I was getting ready to move from Montgomery to El Paso, Texas and wanted to have my car checked out before making that long of a drive.  I called and spoke to Keith, the head mechanic and after an initial verbal assessment, he determined that my car was overdue for a new timing belt.

I had checked the owner?s manual and it recommended having the water pump replaced at the same time, so I asked him to replace both of them.  When I told my co-workers that there was going to be a charge of $512.00 for this service, they thought I must have misunderstood the price.  They felt certain that I was being charged a much greater amount for that particular service.  Not wanting any major surprises, I called McGriff back to confirm the price and Keith laughed and told me I had not misunderstood;  $512.00 was the correct price.

On the day of my scheduled service, Keith gave me a ride to work and was willing to pick me up at the end of the day as well, but I was able to coerce one of my co-workers into giving me a ride back to McGriff.

Keith made sure I was fully informed about a minor issue that wasn?t currently a problem but he wanted me to be aware of it in case someone said something about it later.  He gave a thorough explanation and showed me pictures to help me understand the issue. 

Since then I have been back and was again impressed with the quality of work as well as the integrity that was shown.  I highly recommend McGriff Automotive to anyone in the Montgomery area.

The door on one of our work trucks was hit and the hinges sprung. We took the truck to a couple of shops for repair estimates. McGriff Auto was the cheapest and they could get to the repair the quickest. They had to order the hinges and even though they didn't get the hinges in the next day like they told us, but it was within 2 days. Once they received them, they called us and we ran the truck over to them. They repaired it that day and the truck was back in service the next day.

We had to have our car towed there in the evening (after they closed) when it wouldn't start.  We stopped by right after they opened the next morning and they had already identified it as our car and were getting ready to call us (they know their customers very well).  They were able to get it fixed within a couple of days.  They always call whenever there is a delay in getting parts in so we are not left wondering.  I appreciate that.
I wish we would have found this place when we first moved to the area!  So convenient to Maxwell AFB (we could walk there from our house).  Also, they don't charge if they look at the car and cannot find a problem.  We brought one of our cars in a couple of times and, of course, the problem went away as soon as we drove on the lot.  So they were not able to find a problem and didn't charge us even though they spent a lot of time driving around in it and looking under the hood.  I wish more mechanics did this.  Very honest and ethical.  Wish I could have taken them with me when we moved!

It went well.  I needed the tailgate on short notice (just a day or two) and they were able to get it for me.  They also helped me fix my LA Guard Dog I use for my 4 wheeler.  Just required some new threads to be cut, which took a couple of minutes and they did for free.

We got a call the morning after we dropped our car off (Nissan Maxima) explaining that they have found the issue and the A/C compressor needed to be replaced. He also mentioned that the hoses in the Maxima's typically leak and that he would check ours while the compressor is out of the car and he could see everything. He called back and said that one hose was seeping and that it wasn't an immediate issue. However, he said that he could replace it now while it was accessible and he would not charge for labor. This hose is in a location that is difficult to get to so while it may last another year or so, it would cost significantly more if we had to replace it later. We went ahead and had the hose replaced for the part fee only. It was good advice. The A/C was fixed after about 4 days (dealer was only one with the part and they were not in a hurry to ship it) but when we got the car back it ran perfectly. Even though there was a delay in the getting a part, McGriff's was very good with calling me with the status.

They tell you what needs to be done and what doesn't need to be done. The one thing, we had a part failure that was covered under warranty and they immediately took care of it and we were on our way.
