J. Walker Mobile Mechanic

My daughter called J. Walker Mobile Mechanic to come and look at her car because she was having trouble with the CV joint on her automobile. He came to my house and looked at the car and indeed it was the CV Joint. My daughter asked how much it would cost and he said $50 and she would buy the part. She got the part and he came back the next day. Replaced the CV Joint. He charged another $150 and left a large transmission fluid spill on the street and when my husband asked him to clean it he said he didn’t have his broom with him. We don’t know why he was not prepared for this type of situation. We had to clean up the spill ourselves. The price was reasonable; however, it should have been communicated better. Then, the next day my husband saw the transmission fluid was leaking. My daughter called him a couple of weeks later and she had to bring the car to him and he was very rude and barely looked at the car and insisted that it was not possible that he caused the leak. I know she should have called him sooner but, we also know that kind of leak is caused by damage to the rubber seal between the axle and transmission where the new CV joint assembly is attached. He said she could leave it overnight and he’ll look at it to see how fast it leaks. But by this point she did not want to do anymore business with him and as she was backing out of his driveway, he told her not to hit his car. He did not give her a receipt, was talking on his phone the entire time he was working on the car and left grease on the hood and fender. This is the first time my daughter has handled this type of situation by herself and she (and my husband agrees with her) is of the opinion that in relation to the transmission leaking, this guy took advantage of the fact she is young, female and doesn’t know a lot about cars. We are having someone else fix the transmission leak. He did some work on my husbands truck the same day and that work was satisfactory. He was talking on his phone the entire time he worked on the truck as well.
