|I then contracted Cole Plumbing to replace what they had convinced me as old and clogged galvanized water pipes throughout my residence. Also they strongly suggested that it was just a matter of time before I would have leaks everywhere, and it would be very expensive and a lot of work was required to replace the old galvanized water piping. Boy, were they ever convincing and smooth talkers. I have a small house with all the plumbing on one side, conventional foundation - four sets of fixtures inside (kitchen, laundry and bathroom), two outside water lines, and one commode. I also had them replace my tub with a tiled shower - this part of the job was sub-contracted through Cole Plumbing at a cost of $1,050.00 and I was very pleased with the tile guy and his installation, quality of workmanship and price of the new shower. It is noteworthy to mention, that the tile guy and his helper spent at least twice the amount of time doing his work that Cole Plumbing spent fleecing me.
|As the contract states, Cole Plumbing was to replace only all the existing galvanized pipe with PEX (Industry standard replacement water piping). Much to my dismay, after the fact, I realized that they had removed not only the galvanized pipe (very little - just some risers) as contracted, but removed all of the PEX water piping (the vast majority of existing piping) that had already been installed just a few years ago. It was not in the contract to remove any PEX.
|Instead of stopping work immediately and coming to me and stating that I had PEX already under my house, they just removed the existing PEX and re-installed more PEX. I was Not happy about this after I found out about this. They had not informed me about, or believe they would have done so, of this "little mistake" Cameron Cole made (as Ryan McGalliard, Master Plumber, reluctantly informed me) until I realized what they had done and questioned Mr. McGalliard when he presented the bill. Had I not checked on their progress, I never would have known what chicanery they are capable of and had perpetrated on me.
|Instead of spending more honest money in a protracted legal battle over this blatant misrepresentation of what work was needed and subsequently done, I decided to just pay them and get them out of my hair. I neither have the time or inclination to have anything else to do with these people. They did give me an adjustment on the bill, however after further research, found out I, even with the adjustment, I was charged far too much for this project.
|Consumers need to be aware and beware; what other craftsman charges well over $250.00 per hour to provide a service, plus a hefty mark up on materials...??? I know master automobile mechanics charge $65.00 an hour for their time plus a small mark up on materials for the services they render. As there are many mechanics out there, there are many plumbers. Would suggest you do a better job shopping around then I did. So, if you have trouble with your bowl, you really need to rethink any decision to call on Cole...

"First let us say thank you for your business and comments. We attempt to treat every client fairly and respectful. Some have a different attitude when they are in need than when the job is completed. [member name] should have pondered telling the truth before he submitted his review of the work we performed at his house. Here are the facts: Cameron did repair a water line that was leaking near the water heater and at that time told [member name] that the galvanized pipe in and under the house was the cause for the low water pressure inside the house. [member name] requested an estimate to get the galvanized pipe replaced and I provided him with a detailed written proposal. [member name] signed this proposal agreeing to pay a total of $7,684.37 to have ALL the water lines under his house replaced as well as having this bath tub removed and a new tile shower installed. This price included what the subcontractor charged to build the tile shower as well as putting in a new shower drain. Once the work began, we found that under the pipe insulation under the house, there was indeed some PEX piping that had been installed by someone else. The majority of the water lines under this house were galvanized. [member name] states the only galvanized pipe we replaced were "just some risers". This is not exactly true, memory could be lacking. We told [member name] that when we finished, he would have all new water lines under his house, gave him a price to do exactly that, he agreed to the cost and signed a contract. We then replaced ALL of the pipe under his house, including the PEX pipe. This PEX was patched into some of the galvanized water lines in a very poor fashion. The amount of time we spent on accomplishing this task is irrelevent. [member name] wanted the work done as fast as possible, so we worked hard and got it done. Now he is complaining as he thinks the cost should be lower bacause we performed the work quickly - at his request! One has to wonder if [member name] would have been willing to pay extra if we would have made this job take a couple of weeks instead of a couple of days! One thing that [member name] failed to mention in his fictitious rant is that he never paid his full bill. At his request, I agreed to give him a small discount after he started complaining about us doing what he asked us to do. I made out an invoice for a total of $7,500.00 once the work was completed. This is a discount of $184.37 off the price he agreed to pay. [member name] then gave me a check for $5,200.00. He said that was all he was paying because that was all the work was worth. So [member name] got everything he asked for and we also removed all the trash that had accumulated under his house that was left there by all the other people that have been unfortunate enough to work for [member name] over the years after yet another complaint from him, and then paid over $2,500.00 less than the contract price he agreed to. Probably a memory problem again. [member name] has nothing to complain about, it seems to me that Cole Plumbing is the one that has been mistreated. Hopefully other service companies will read this and tell [member name] "NO THANKS!!" if he ever asks them to do any work for him. His signature means nothing at some points in life."
"Any client calling in to our company is given a cost for the service visit to the location - in this case, our service fee was $99.00. We cannot and will not give a cost over the phone without visiting the site as there are just too many variables - how to access, what needs to be done, etc. A client can call with a sink drain stoppage and it ends up being the main sewer line - totally different work. The client is also afforded the opportunity to decline for us to do the work and just pay the service call fee. The service fee can also be declined over the phone before we make the trip at no charge to the client. We have performed 3 other service visits to the home before this call and only one was a lesser charge."
