The work was done professionally and well. The staff was professional and courteous. I was pleased with the quality of the work performed. Delco has a serious problem with responsiveness. I mentioned early on that the voice mail box was full and that never improved. I also mentioned that I had emailed and not gotten a response. I was promised a written estimate early on and never received on. The final amount paid was what was discussed on the first meeting with the verbal estimate. However, I was uneasy as time went on and I did not hear. Finally, I understand that a State job will be better paying and longer lasting. However, to be left hanging for over THREE MONTHS was not good. Unfortunately, I had previously contacted two other contractors for the driveway project. One promised 3 different times to come and look and never showed. The other contractor came and said it would be almost twice what Delco estimated. So although it took a long time from estimate to completion, it was a) quality work and b) less expensive than the other estimate I had received. I did NOT have the electric box put in nor the septic tie in completed. I did not do it because it was more than I could afford at this time. I WILL contact Delco to come back when I have the funds to complete these projects. I would not hesitate to use Delco again, but I understand better now a) responsiveness may be slow and b) I will demand a written estimate quickly so the office staff will schedule me and get me lost in the shuffle.
Description of Work: I asked Delco to come and give me an ESTIMATE in June for four items: septic tank cleaning, electric box outside for hooking up my RV, installing an intercept to the septic tank so the RV could be emptied in my yard and, grading and laying gravel on an (approx) 500' driveway. Delco came within days, reviewed the issues and gave me a VERBAL estimate. He promised a written response within a week. Within less than a week, he came back and dug a hole to find the septic line and dug an access to the septic tank. We left for vacation and while we were gone, a sub-contractor came and emptied the septic tank and covered the access to grade. We returned from vacation and had a bill from the sub contractor but no estimate from Delco. It had been over 5 weeks at this point. I called and eventually heard from Delco. They had been called into a long term state job and all personnel and equipment were committed to that. I was told it would be a few weeks until they could get to me. The few weeks turned to 3 months. I made repeated calls and did not hear for long periods. Often the voice mail was full. I tried email and still had no response. Finally, I was contacted by Delco and the owner came out with a written estimate. It was a flat rate, not itemized. He apologized as the state job had gotten bigger and was drawn into a long term deal. He also apologized because he had never presented me with a written estimate for me to sign, so the office staff had not scheduled the work. Finally, he came back within a week and graded the driveway. He then installed a tap to the septic so when I decided to have that done with a longer line to the RV, it would be easy to find and tie in. The following day he was back early with 3 large trucks to dump and spread the gravel on the driveway.
