Pep Boys Auto Parts Tires & Service

They did not properly tighten the oil filter and I later discovered oil leaking out. This is the second time I have had the oil changed there that they didn't tighten something and the oil leaked. Luckily I discovered it both times before the engine burned up.

I brought the parts in ... I had purchased them online. Other shops wanted 400.00 just for labor, Pep Boys put them both on for 100.00. The only problem I had was, when I went to pick it up at the scheduled time they hadn't even started on it. It was an error because they didn't show the parts ordered in their system since I had brought them in so the computer had a hold on my order. They installed them right then while I waited though.

Ok this is actually about the Pepboys on Azalea Rd., so I don't want people getting it confused with the one on Montlimar, which we have never been. For some reason, Angie's List doesn't allow you to put in another business with the same name.
That being said we took our car to the Azalea Rd/Hwy 90 Pepboys back in August of this year and had some ballbearing work done. We were told they put on the wrong type and then had a hard time removing the wrong size from our car. They then had to order
the correct size from the dealer and it took 4 days to get our car back. Ok, fine, lucky we had another car. So all said and done, they gave us a discount for the trouble and said we had a warranty on the service should it go wrong.
It is now November, 3 months later, the car is making the same noise, so instead of going somewhere else we took it back because of the warranty. My husband wasn't real happy with the last service but he wanted the car taken care of so he took it back and told them that if it was the same thing, it was under warranty and if it wasn't call him, and he would take it elsewhere to fix. They called him not long after and told him it was different. A groove in the axle they said from prior dealer work no less...in a 10 year old car!! The only work done on this car on that area was done by them 3 months ago. Not only that, they were tugging and pushing on that area to get those wrong bearings off, well, one can only guess if the axle was damaged or not. Since we have no proof and they are not owning up to it, we are stuck just as someone else will be.
Take this as what you will, If you use this business all the time and like it, this won't matter. For us, that is the last time and we have used them in the past many times ourselves.

I have been going to them for a couple years and they did a great job.

The service was good and I didn't have a problem with them. I was satisfied with them.

I stopped in and reported that my check engine light was on. In approx. 30 minutes, the diagnosis was made and the light reset. At that point no further action was needed.

I started going there a few years ago when I had a dead battery in the Academy parking lot. I walked over to Pep Boys and the manager drove me back, jumped my car, and then installed a new battery ASAP. I've been going back ever since.
