Early in June I called Meadows Electric. The girl at the office said they were very busy but, of course, they repaired lights and fans. I told her that I could wait. I ALSO mentioned one fan was shaking on high speed and the other probably needed a new switch for the light kit.
Days went by and suddenly it was the end of June. I finally called the office to see if my work order was lost. I was assured they had not forgotten me. Suddenly on July 1st two pleasant guys from Meadows Electric were here to fix my fans. First they adjusted the shaky fan that now doesn't wobble AS badly, and then they went to the kitchen to deal with the fan that had the light that would not go on and off. Surprise, surprise. I needed a new switch, and they had to go back to the shop to get me another one!!! When they came back, they installed it and told me I would get a bill in the mail.
I was charged $155.50 (labor and material) for at most a ½ hour of work, a ride to a warehouse located who knows where and a switch that probably costs max $3.00 at Lowe's. This is another one of those learning experiences people read about in the newspaper or see on television. If you are old and female and know nothing about electrics, be ready with your wallet wide open.

Two workman arrived as scheduled and started the work immediately. To my amazement, all work was done without power interruption which was a plus since I was doing work inside my home which required use of electricity. Everything was installed in short order (approx. two hours or less) and the lighting was up and running. There was professionalism in workmanship from beginning to end, however, the amount of money charged for this project was a bit more than we expected for the work performed and the light kits provided.
In March 2012, one of the fixtures malfunctioned and we contacted Meadows Electrical to assess the problem and repair. At that time, we also needed to replace the light on our patio and ask if they would do while here. We provided the light kit for the patio and all work was done in less than 25 minutes with a charge of $50.00.
Although we found the overall pricing somewhat above our expectation, most likely it is in line with others in the industry. Consequently, we would likely not hesitate to use Meadows Electrical again and we would recommend to others.

Richard Meadows was punctual when he came by for the estimate, and his crew was just as punctual the day the work was done. He was always available by phone, and took the time to answer my questions (in easy to understand terms). There were issues with the correct placement of the generator due to its proximity to the power meter and gas meter, and he explained all of these issues to me and how the local codes and safety concerns would affect where the generator could and could not be placed. I made the purchase of the generator on my own, and he was very helpful in telling me what size equipment to purchase and what to look for in purchasing the correct transfer switch. His work crew was efficient and the work area was tidy after they left. They gave detailed instruction on the operation of the generator before they left. The work was completed in the time frame described to us. The power company had to disconnect power before the work could be started, and we were still without commercial power when the crew left. When Richard Meadows learned this he drove to our house himself and waited with us (making calls to Alabama Power periodically) until it was reconnected. The price he quoted was very reasonable, and he gave us the option of saving money by installing the base pad ourselves. Overall, we are very pleased with the personal service, the price, and the quality of their work. We would not hesitate to use his services again, or to recommend him to someone else.
