His response in giving me an estimate was quick and he seemed very personable. We paid him $1100.00 for this job.  When we agreed to use his services he suggested where I should go to get my paint and then offered to pick it up for me. That was the first mistake.  The paint quality is extremely poor.  The very thin coat that he had his "helpers" apply to the bathroom trim was so thin that you can see the older paint through it.  To this day I cannot wipe my baseboards or any trim with a damp cloth because the paint peels off. We had lived in our home 16 years and had used other painters to do the same work in another bathroom and other bedrooms and never had any peeling or cracking.  After Coastal Coatings put what is obviously one  inferior coat of paint to the bathroom ceiling it started peeling within two weeks.  The tape lines on the sheetrock were never done correctly as they  started to crack. My husband called Mr. Olsen but the repairs were never made.  Feeling angry and very much taken advantage of, I waited 11 months to call him back.  He came back in November of 2011 was very apologetic and told me that when he was finished that we together "would bless this room". He wanted me to be happy.  The next two days when he came to mud the tape lines he was late, but he did come and start the process.  The third day he called me and said he was in a fender bender and would be here in an hour or so.  As of this day, 2/17/2012, we have neither seen or heard from him.  The bathroom walls were never mudded or sanded, just a coat of bad paint.  The ceiling has obvious lines where he started the tape line repair and never even painted over his repairs. I have a written estimate of what was agreed on. This event has made it very hard to even begin looking for someone who is qualified and reliable to come in to my home to make complete the task I want done and also to earn a living at the trade they are selling.

The look of the paint is fantastic - excellent corners, excellent transition from wall to ceiling. However, the quality of the paint applied in the whole house is absolutely AWFUL. If you accidentally touch this paint with your bare skin, the oil makes a mark on the paint. Good luck never, ever touching the walls. Our house is less than two years old and the walls look like they're about eight years old. That's been a huge disappointment. However, we purchased the paint for the additional bedroom that we had Bruce do (and we paint a mint for it!), and that paint has been fine. Still looks fantastic two years later. The crew did an excellent job with set up and clean up. No paint drips anywhere, used plastic mats for drip protection, kept their shoes clean, and took care of all their equipment. Very impressed with their professionalism. Bruce is a personable businessman. Very likable.
