I filed a BBB complaint today.
The seller will not pay for the service that was done on the vehicle and what he agreed to in the bill of sale.
Before buying the car, I identified the deficiencies with the vehicle. Mr. Rodney Parker and Mrs. Julie Parker (his wife) agreed to fix all deficiencies. He agreed to fix the gas cap, replace right windshield wiper, buff the headlights, fix the brakes, get another key made, and fix door locks. I was not going to buy the vehicle if they did not have the other key. They said they bought the car with two sets of keys and it may be at the house somewhere. I bought the car “as is”, but these items were to be fixed as soon as possible during and right after I purchased the vehicle. They added most of these deficiencies on to the Bill of Sale.
As soon as I purchased the vehicle, they placed me on hold on fixing the vehicle and decided to go out of town to Florida. I had to wait until the following week to bring my vehicle back to them to work on the brakes. They replaced the brakes in the front and while I was driving I almost had a serious accident because the brakes would not catch in time. I found out that they did not take the vehicle to a mechanic. They bought cheap pads and replaced the front pads. They did not turn or replace the rotors.
I took it to Express Oil Change 5860 Wall-Triana Highway 72 Madison, 35758. They checked the vehicle out and stated that the front pads were replaced, but they were cheap pads. The pads weren’t semi-metallic and the rotors were very bad and needed replacing. Express Oil Change quoted the price around $380.00. The back brakes were at 65% wear and tear.
I went back and told Planet Auto Sales/WRECKTEC what had happened with the brakes and how much it would cost to fix the problem. They stated they would buy the parts because it would be cheaper for them. I stated to them I would rather have it fixed myself because I already had one brush with death with the bakes they provided and placed on by them. I wanted professional mechanics replacing brakes. I was hoping they would pay for the brakes from the quote I gave them. They said nothing on the subject. I ask them to please give me a time to come in and have the rest of the items fixed on the vehicle. On May 1, 2012, I took it to Dennis Johnson’s Auto Repair Center. They replaced the Front brake rotors and placed front ceramic brake pads costing a total of $280.61. On April 17, 2017, the vehicle was back in the shop for the door locks and a key made. They took the vehicle to Smith Infiniti for the work to be done. The doors still did not work properly, so they told me that I would have to bring it back. I bought it back on April 20, 2012 to add the front right actuator in the door. They worked on the door and it still did not work right, so I had to bring it back on May 3, 2012. They added the left rear and right rear actuator. I checked the car out and I immediately told them that the rear lock isn’t working after you did something to the other locks. Rodney Parker treated it like everything else works and it was working when he sold the vehicle to me and he’s not responsible. I stated that it’s something that has been done recently while they have been working on the locks for it not work now. He said he’s about to go out of town and said to take it to Smith Infiniti to have them check it out and see what they say what is wrong with it and you buy the rear actuator and I’ll take care of the labor. I went by several times with my wife to Smith Infiniti but, we kept missing the operating hours for the service department. We did get a chance and talk to the service department manager and Ms Jennifer Webster checked to see what the problem could be. She did a quick diagnostic check by checking the fuse and back door and tried to reset. That did not fix the problem. She said that I would have to bring it to the Master technician to find out the problem. On June 25, 2012, I ordered the rear actuator through WRECKTEC and they ordered through Smith Infiniti in hoping this will fix the problem. The part came in on 27 June 2012. On 28 June 2012, Rodney and his crew begin working on the vehicle. He told me his guys will try to fix it because he has to go out of town for the weekend.
They were having trouble getting the door to open after replacing with the new actuator. It was doing the same thing as the old one. They said they could not reach up into where the door switch was located. They said it could be a bad wire or something. They didn’t know and no one else was around to help out. I told them that I will go ahead and do what Rodney Parker suggested and take it to Smith Infiniti to get it checked out and fixed. On July 2, 2012, Smith Infiniti found out that the passenger right actuator was bad and it wasn’t sending a response back to the rear actuator to open. The diagnosis cost $200.00 and the labor cost $100.00. The total cost was $300.00. I passed this information on to Rodney Parker and he stated he don’t feel responsible for the charges, and will explain in an email. They provided an email.
This company did not fulfill their agreement in the bill of sale. They should pay for this diagnostic and labor. I paid for the brakes but did not ask them for the refund. I’m currently waiting on my refund for the rear actuator I purchased from WRECKTEC that Smith Infiniti gave credit back to WRECKTEC. The part was not needed due to the results of the diagnostics.
