I am waiting to settle, since I fired the contractor. At this point, I do not think the contractor cares; all I want back is $7000.00 of the $10,000. After talking to the other contractors, I feel it is fair to pay for the services rendered at $3000.00. I will do the work myself. I will need the PTAC unit and sleeve he ordered 3 months ago, so I can install it.
Description of Work: Doug G**** bid this contract for 10k, so I went to bank and got the money he requested, he took the entire 10K. The roof and foundation was already there before this contract. He put studs up and installation, installed 2 of three doors and 3 windows, broke up concrete to prepare for electrical, then stopped 3 months ago, and I have had no work completed since then. I have communicated with the contract, and have gotten lied to and gave the run around, but no work since 5/23/2012. He never gave me a contract, and now I have asked may question, but I am just getting ignored. I have contacted 2 other contractors, and was told the work completed is only worth 2500-3000 dollars. I have officially asked for my money back, but still no communication. I feel I have a case for fraud of services. Here is the timeline notes I have been compiling throughout the project: · Started project on 05/17/2012 – Paid $5000.00 o Walls were built, doors/windows ordered o Did not have to remove HVAC, Cost deferred to rest of project. · Doug Needed more money for labor on 5/18/2012 – Paid $2400.00 o Doors/windows were installed and insulation inserted into walls · Hole dug to prep for moving meter, gave final check of 2600.00 on 5/23/2012 o NO new work ever completed since 06/01/2010. Called and had plenty of excuses, but no work. o Left to do on project – Not Completed § NO Move meter to outside wall § NO Wire inside with new panel and 110/220 plugs § NO AC/Heater in shop installed § NO Garage Door installed · Talked to Electrician, was on vacation and didn’t know anything from Doug about starting, when Doug told me he was working with him. Said he would come over, was stood up. · Waited a week, called Electrician, was told truck was in shop, told me he would come over in 1.5 hours, was stood up again without even a phone call. · Called Doug to suggest we get new Electrician, and Doug now wants MORE money. Bid was $10,000, (over a month after project started.) until today, when he said he needs more money. Told me that was only an estimate, when I asked about $10,000.00 price given to me.
