We moved into the home in November 2012. Kenneth Jarrett (JAK Electric) said that once we settled in, he would come to the house and show us how to hook up the generator and make the transfer. We started calling early in 2013 to schedule an appointment and get the necessary instructions. We received one call back stating that he had fallen and would get back in touch with us. We continued to attempt to reach Mr. Jarrett via phone messages, faxes and emails with no success.
In November 2014 a neighbor's home was hit by lightening. We contacted an electric company to put surge protection on our home. In doing so, the new electrician stated "Generator power was not hooked up safely. Had a disconnect but requires a transfer switch to make sure generator and utilities are not energized at same time ..."
We had the new electrician make the necessary changes for our generator to hook up safely.
We also contacted the builder and reported this incident.
We have yet to hear from Mr. Jarrett or anyone at JAK Electric.
