We had read some positive reviews about Sam on Angie's list, so we contacted him in mid-February to talk about hiring a real estate agent to sell our home.  This was the first time we had ever sold a house, so we were completely new to the process.  At the beginning of the phone conversation he was pleasant, but at some point he casually asked if we had talked with any other agents (we were living out of town at that point).  We had spoken with one other agent at that time, so I said yes, we had interviewed one other person.  Like I said, we were brand new to the process of selling a home, so we were under the impression that it's normal to talk with a few agents before signing a contract.  Maybe that's not the case in Huntsville, and perhaps the word "interview" pushed a button of some kind.  At that point in the conversation, Sam seemed to get defensive and raised his voice, and said if we were interviewing agents, he had absolutely no interest in working with us, that he didn't have time to work with people who interviewed real estate agents.  He then started asking questions like what are you going to do - look at their shoes? how they're dressed?, along with making a bunch of other statements about our attitude.  I felt like we were getting the 3rd degree, and we had never even met this guy.  After trying to calmly respond so we could deescalate the situation, he literally hung up on me mid-sentence.  Wow.  Needless to say, we signed with another listing agent.

Sam Whitaker was extremely proficient, very professional, and he comes out and is very diplomatic about what you need to do to sell the house. He is a good real estate agent, we will use him again in the future. He did what he said he would do, was very timely, and followed up with everybody. He was able to sell our house in a bad market! He did an outstanding job. He made sure all the contracts were good, all we had to do was sign them. He made everything very simple for us.
