We were originally promised 4 to 5 weeks of effort to do all of the work and that he (Jeff Hipp) would personally be there daily to do much of the work and supervise his crew. The work started about a week late and for the first week on the job the work went quickly. After the 1st week, they stopped showing up regularly and the work slowed down. Jeff himself was rarely there and if he was it was just to drop off material for his guys. In the 5 months that the job took, I saw him working a total of 3 days on my home and I was there almost daily. He had two to three people working on the home for the first week but most days throughout the 5 months it was one person there, when they did show up. Jeff consistently asked for payment for work that was not done and made promises to get more people on the job and work faster if we paid for things that weren't completed. On the one occasion where I did give in and pay early, I was promised that they would have more people on the job and work harder to get finished in one to two weeks so that we could hit our closing deadline and not have to get extensions and pay penalties on our loan. The crew didn't show up for a week after that payment was made and then it still took 5 more weeks to get finished. As of today there are still things unfinished in the home that we have been promised since January 2013 would be completed but are still undone. Much of what was done was average quality at best and some of it was well below average. Stairs creek, doors do not shut properly or lock properly, banisters are shaky and one fell down during construction and we were charged to put it back up, and quite a bit of the trim is separating at the joints. Overall the experience was awful and it was made worse by the constant promises and assurances that were not fulfilled. The good things about the project were the price was competitive and most of the work did get completed eventually. We were worried that we would be abandoned half way through because of what other contractors told us about his previous jobs but even though it took months and much badgering, most of it did get finished. His people were easy to get along with and they seemed to stay busy when they were there albeit each at their own casual pace. Jeff was friendly for the most part but working with him was made almost unbearable because he consistently promised things that he didn't even attempt to deliver on.
Description of Work: Jeff Hipp and his crew did trim work and general carpentry on our new construction from August 2012 to January 2013. He did trim work and general carpentry inside our home and on our porches. It consisted of everything from built-ins to stairs to trim around windows and doors, installing doors, door locks, and columns.
