I contacted Steadfast a year ago to get estimates on pruning my very large, very old oak tree. They were the best quote but unforeseen circumstances kept me from hiring anyone at that time. I got in touch with Nick again this year and confirmed the quote was still good. They came out and performed the job exactly as described. All low, awkward limbs and dead wood were removed and my yard was left in pristine condition. My tree looks great and I know I won't have a yard full of branches after the next storm.
Steadfast will be my go-to for any tree work I need in the future.
"Thank you for the review and for the opportunity to assist you with your tree care needs. We strive to give 100% customer satisfaction and cleanup is one of our main priorities, I would like your yard to look better when I leave than it did before I arrive. Thank you again, and I look forward to working together in the future"
Well, I was at Straight To Ale show the pictures to a friend and Nick overheard me, came over and threw his card my way. I've known him for a little while just from hanging around the brewery and buying grains from them all the time for my own brewing. I had him come out to the house a week or so later to give me a quote to take down the tree. He was at about $1,800. A little high, so I shopped around a bit.
While I was looking for quotes, I got everything from $700 on the Craigslist, sketchy as h*** quotes, to $2,500 from Eager Beaver, which is the top of Angie's List for tree removal in the area. So, I called Nick back, and asked what he could do. We worked out some details and he was able to come down to $1,450. Pretty much in the middle of all of the quotes I had gotten. I also know that he's the owner of the company, and a really good guy, so I felt better about giving him the gig. I got him to forward a proof of insurance to me just so I had a warm fuzzy feeling in case something went wrong.
Fast forward a week to last Sunday. Nick and his crew get out there at about 9am to start working. I was in the house the whole time doing some renovations, and got to watch most of their process. Nick had guys up in the tree cutting it down piece by piece. No crane, no big truck they had to rent, they just took it down like it was nothing. Now, this was a 30 year old oak that was towering over my 3 story house, and they took it out themselves. It was insane. A couple of hours later, and there's a bunch of oak logs out on the street and no more tree. They even cut up a bunch for me into firewood so that myself and my neighbors could use it. On the way out, I asked if they could knock out a branch that was overhanging my driveway while they were out there. No problem. Gone. Off to the next job, the truck will be by later.
I continue working on the house and at about 4pm, a truck rolls by and starts picking up all of the limbs and logs in the street that were left over (that my neighbors didn't already scavenge). It was all gone by the end of the day, and I was left with a nice stump on my deck that I'll take care of when I go to rebuild it.
Now, I've never had to get a tree cut down, so this was all new to me. This is my first house. Nick and his team were all great at what they did, and I will absolutely call him back if I decide to get rid of another tree. If any of my friends or family need one taken down, they'll get his number. I honestly can't say enough good things about Steadfast. These guys may be small, may not have many reviews, but they're awesome at what they do.
