The woman who they have on the phone, Melissa, is incredibly unprofessional and rude. Their office work is sloppy and they've sent me receipts with my name spelled so wrong I was surprised they were able to run my credit card. I've been dealing with this company for three weeks because they can't fix my HVAC unit short cycling. They've charged me to come back out when they haven't fixed it the first time. Most recently, I was told to call them while the the problem was occurring so that they could come out and check for the HVAC throwing a code. When I did that I was treated to a lecture and condescending phone call from Melissa about how the problem is really just my thermostat which has already been replaced. After she interrupted me multiple times and told me to lower my voice when she's been yelling at me about how this was my problem - she finally admitted that they couldn't have somebody out here today. It became clear to me then that her lecture was based on the fact that they couldn't follow through with fixing their own shoddy work and she wants to shift blame on to something else. She continued to interrupt me saying that that was really terrible customer service while telling me that she was being super polite. If she's not the proprietor of this company than the proprietor should be aware that she refused to let me speak to anyone else. tldr: I've had this company come out twice to fix the problem they've charged me both times without fixing anything and they told me to call them while it's happening to have them come back out. When I've done that, they've lectured me about how I should just change my thermostat and told me they can't send anybody out.

From the initial appointment to assess the requirement until the job was completed, which was all completed in one day, the representatives of Southern Comfort were prompt, professional, knowledgeable and focused on getting our system removed and a new unit installed. They went above and beyond by making sure everything was done right and mistakes on the original installation were corrected. Overall it was a good experience for us. Highly recommend this Company

Southern Comfort removed and hauled off all the old duct work.  Installed new duct work, removed and hauled off the old Gas Pack and Air conditioning Package and installed new system with a new thermostat.  Everything was completed in one day.  My Family is very pleased with their work.

The service is fine. The workers are fine. They know what they are doing. They get right to work when they get here. They will call you about a half an hour before and tell you what time exactly they would be there. I am very pleased with them.

Everything went fantastic! The employees showed up as scheduled (8a.m.) and was done just after lunch. They were punctual and hard workers. They replaced the Unit itself and the air handler that was located up in the attic. Since the air handler was bigger than the last one - they built a new platform and drip pan for the new equipment. They were able to get the air handler up into the attic without any issues. The AC unit outside - which is now a Carrier Infinity Series Model was bigger in size than the bad unit (same 3 ton unit as the old unit) - however - the employees were able to put it on the same concrete pad without any issues. They also installed the new Infinity Touch Thermostat and showed my husband a small tutorial on the thermostat. The workers were very professional and provided great conversation while working diligently. They cleaned up their workspace and thanked us for our business. I should note also - that I added in the additional warranty to make the total warranty 10yr parts/10yr labor(price). I highly recommend Southern Comfort for your Heat Pump/AC needs - they are fantastic! They are also an Authorized Dealer for Carrier.

I had a house built and closed on it 4 months ago. The heating and cooling was installed by Southern Comfort HVAC. Since I moved in, I've never felt like the downstairs was staying as warm as I would like, but I attributed it to the fact that it had a lot of air to keep warm due to the open floor plan and high ceilings. After the cold snap in January, my bill for the month was $430 and I started suspect there was a problem with the house. With the snows in February, the downstairs heat stopped all together, so I called Southern Comfort. To their credit, they came out that day (after the snow melted) and the technician was professional and competent. He discovered that the system had a short that caused the heat and air to run at the same time, and this eventually caused the unit to freeze up. He fixed it and defrosted the unit and it has run fine since then. My issue, however is that I had a $430 power bill due to a problem with a new installation. I called Southern Comfort to see if they would reimburse me for part of the balance. Ideally, I would have liked to be reimbursed the difference between that bill and the previous month's bill. I would have been happy if they had reimbursed the difference between that bill and my highest bill before that. I would have been satisfied if they had at least acknowledged that it was a problem with a new installation and just reimbursed me $100. But I was very curtly informed that they fixed the issue as soon as they were made aware of it and that was the end of their responsibility. Legally, I suppose that's true, but the outrageous bill was due to a fault with either their equipment or their installation. It seems a company truly interested in great customer relations would acknowledge that and do what they could to make it right. In conclusion, as long as you don't have a problem like mine, my experience says that Southern Comfort provides good service, but don't expect them to take responsibility if their work results in extra expense from your pocket.

Our heat went out on a Wednesday (cracked heat exchanger on a 13 year old unit) during the coldest week of the year and we were expecting company for the weekend. To make matters worse, I was out of state. On the recommendaiton of a co-worker, I called Southern Comfort and talked to David. He was very helpful and accomodating and had no problem talking to me in the evening. The next morning he came out, prepared an estimate and emailed it to me. Later that day I called back and told David to go ahead with the install. A crew showed up at 7:30 the following morning. The heat was on by lunch time!

I have nothing but praise for this company! I am going to ramble a moment about Sears so you can see the joy I get in giving Southern Comfort an A++++++++++++ rating. I wish I could do more to shout out what a wonderful company there are.
So Sears... We had two HVAC units installed by Sears last year July 2012 and the blower motor went out on the 2 ton unit already. Sears came and looked at it said it was the blower motor and quoted $250 fr labor. Since that quote a week ago. Sears Home Services has done nothing but give us the run around claiming if we had purchased their and quot;premium service planand quot; they could help us better, I sat at home off of work 2 full days on scheduled/confirmed appointment days to arrive between 8 and 5pm and being told during repeated phone calls I made when promised times to arrive were not fulfilled they were and quot;on their wayand quot; never to show. They finally told us the had to order the blower motor part and it would be 3 to 5 days and to call back for another appointment.
So in pure frustration in dealing with the lack of service from Sears I called several HVAC service companies around Huntsville and everyone told me that didn't service Sears Kenmore products nor did they work with the parts warranties UNTIL I called Southern Comfort.
The very nice lady that answered the phone - Melissa - went out of her way to call around to find a local parts distributor (Mingledorf) for Heil/Kenmore and said they would work with them to get parts that would be covered under the warranty as needed. She made an appointment and said the technican would be here within 1.5 to 2 hours and would call prior to arrival. Which they did and he was here promptly. He - Cliff - looked at the unit in the attic - said the same thing Sears did - that it was the blower motor - quoted $125 for labor plus the $78 service call (which I was more than glad to pay) totaling $203 - cheaper than the $250 Sears was going to charge us. He said the part was in stock - said he was going to meet someone to get it and would be back in about an hour. Cliff left to get the part - was back within the hour - and had it repaired quickly.
Melissa and Cliff were courteous, prompt, lived up to their word, didn't over charge (were less than Sears to repair their own product), in and out quick and did a fantastic job. It is so nice to have AC again and most of all it was wonderful to work with a company with great ethics and customer service. It is sad it is so rare these days and a blessing to finally find a company that has it in spades!
Thank you Southern Comfort HVAC!!! Thank you Melissa and Cliff! I will continue to use your company and will let everyone know how wonderful you are!

It was finally time for a more efficient unit with humidity control (a new concept for us since the old unit was 15-20 years old). It was hard to compare prices among different contractors, because each sells different brands and features particular packages. We chose Southern Comfort because they had later office hours (after 4) so we could get someone on the phone to answer our questions. They were very helpful in "piecing out" the job so we could understand what we were paying for and what it might cost us if we encountered problems during the job or changed our minds (for example, replacing ductwork instead of using the existing). They scheduled us very quickly, even during the peak season. The crew arrived right on time - actually a few minutes early - and started working right away. They were finished by 11 am - earlier than promised. The owner, David Smart, was onsite to make sure everything went well. The office staff was very efficient in helping us with financing. We got a follow-up thank you note before the bill arrived; not a pushy corporate note inviting us to purchase more services but a simple, sincere, handwritten note -a nice touch.

We had been told by another contractor that our HVAC thermostat was faulty, and that it was too old to be replaced ( new ones would only work with newer units). Doing our homeowrk to get 3 estimates, we called Southern Comfort. The owner himself came (very promptly) to do the estimate. He took the time to check our existing unit and thermostat, and found us a thermostat that he says will work just fine until we are ready to replace it. His estimate for a new, efficient unit is right in the ballpark with everyone else's -- and for now we are thrilled to spend $100 instead of several thousand.
