We are doing a whole house renovation. My GCs plumber was unavailable so I chose to use Scott Plumbing. I had used them a couple of times before with no issue. However this time, They broke a vanity top during installation. I'm not naive, and realize stuff happens. But when it does I expect honest dealings.I expected they would apologize and pay for a new one.  I had 2 other contractors on site at the time, and both said that's the way it's supposed to work, and that they would make it right without discussion. However, Scott Plumbing handled it this way: I called the main office and explained the situation. They put me on hold, and never came back. While I was on hold they called the tech in his truck and told him they wouldn't pay. He came back in the house and started the sentence with "There could be many factors in...." to which I replied, y'all aren't going to pay for it. He said right. He the presented me with a bill for $1900 for the days work and shoved an iPad in my face to sign saying it was an approval for the work they had done that day, never showing me what I was signing. I then receive an email showing I had signed a release from liability. That is just a dishonest way to run a business. The job is only half done...and they will not be allowed back on the property to finish it. I will hire a different plumber to finish the work. Here's the silly part of the whole thing. I wasn't upset about the vanity top. I know accidents happen. Replacing it will only cost about $200. It's not that big of a deal. But because of the dishonest way they handled the situation, they sacrificed another $2000 worth of work on this project, and any future work over a silly $200 mistake. Character matters. And Scott Plumbing showed they have no character.

I don’t typically write reviews, but when I feel like I need to warn others away from crooks, I’ll sit down and write one. The review is a semi-detailed account of my experience, but the bottom line is at the end if you don’t want to read the whole thing. On the original call, the owner of the company came out to fix two toilets that I had running, and I assume he was training a new plumber. He claimed to fix both toilets, but he was lacking the parts on his truck and just “adjusted” one of them and said it was fixed, but it was not. Both of the toilets were still running, so called him back out because the work was under warranty. The same new plumber came out, by himself this time, and fixed them again. At the end of the job, he tried to collect payment. I told him this was a warranty call and I shouldn’t owe anything. He calls the owner, and the owner tells him to charge me for one toilet instead of two. His logic was that they didn’t work on the toilet that they just “adjusted” last time, since they didn’t have the part to replace it, and he claimed that I owed for that toilet. Here is where the math gets a bit fuzzy. The plumber was going to charge me $150 for both toilets without any warranty. With one under warranty, he was still trying to charge me $117, and the first time he charged me $135. So if two toilets in one call was $150, then why was he trying to charge me the $135 from the original call with an extra $117 from this one? Mind you, I didn’t agree to any extra work outside of the warranty work they were supposed to be doing. I told the plumber that I wasn’t going to pay because this is warrantied work and I don’t owe anything. He calls the owner back and the owner calls me on my cell and says I have 5 minutes to pay his plumber or he is going to call the Sheriffs department and report me for theft of services, then just hangs up on me. He wouldn’t even entertain the idea of going over his math for what he was expecting me to pay. At this point, I decided to call the Sheriffs department myself, because I didn’t do anything wrong. About an hour later, two deputies show up and get both of our stories. Since this is a civil matter, they couldn’t really do anything, but they both agreed with me that the plumber should have given me some form of statement of work before starting new work. At the end of the day, I ended up paying $100 because the owner was adamant about filing a theft of service report against me, and it wasn’t worth anymore of my time to deal with this idiot. His plumber was there for 3 hours for less than a 1 hour job, so at least I got some justice of wasting his time and costing him business for his shady dealings; additionally, I hope this review will serve as a warning and help people find an honest plumber instead of this crook that cares more about being right than taking care of his customers. Bottom Line: At the end of the day, the owner of this company would rather waste 3 hours of time for him, me, his plumber, and two deputies than honor a $100 warranty claim for his work. Not to mention the other customers that were scheduled for later that day. Stay away from this company.
Response from Scott Plumbing
"During our investigation on this matter stated above after Mr. [Member Name Removed] blasted a one-star review over all web platforms, we did find that by a multitude of issues the two visits in June and August on 2022 should have been completely covered by warranty under the initial visit on August 28, 2021. Our warranty policy states that unless it is drain cleaning or otherwise stated by the plumber on site, we offer a 12-month warranty on any work performed. Mr. [Member Name Removed] did not mention this was a warranty when he called to have us come out on June 7, 2022, and our office staff, as well as the technician on the visit, failed to confirm the location's job history properly. Human error was the factor that caused this to be escalated to where theft of service charges was going to be filed with Madison County. Our owner was only given immediate information and based his decision solely on the two 2022 visits and the fact that we had a tech that was dealing with a customer who was refusing to pay for the services provided on the visit on 8/1/22. As we have stated, all of this could have been completely avoided and in seeing this and making the corrective actions here in the office, we have attempted to reach out to Mr. [Member Name Removed] and speak to him regarding the matter to apologize for the entire issue. Mr. [Member Name Removed] refused our phone call. We have issued a check to refund Mr. [Member Name Removed] the two payments as of 8/10/22 totaling $237.83. We will always take responsibility for our errors and if he had allowed us to do so, we would have seen this and made the appropriate corrections."

Plumbers showed up right on scheduled time. They did a good inspection of potential causes of the leak and determined it was underground in the yard. They fixed the problem in about two hours. Well done!

Replaced outside faucet due to a leak inside the dining room wall. Leak was probably caused by freezing and could have been dripping for a year or more but was not discovered until moldy wet drywall was removed for repairs. Scott came out the day after I called and were kind enough to replace the faucet and add a ball valve shutoff at my request provided I build an access door. Pleased with their quick response and workmanship.

Scott Plumbing provided a competitive quotation for the replacement of my electric water heater. It was easy to schedule the work. The plumber called the day of the installation, noted he was running a bit early, and asked if it would be convenient for him to come earlier than agreed - which was fine/great for me. I was very happy with the work and my communication with Scott Plumbing. I intend to use Scott Plumbing for my future needs.

Within a few hours of calling, plumber came out. Did not have to wait a day or longer that have experienced with other plumbers. Had to cut a hole in the sheet rock to find leak. Replaced copper pipe with new copper pipe and used compression fittings - no soldering.

Very professional job. Only "complaint" is cost. Charge was $300 (after "$50 dollar senior discount") for two hours labor (no parts except for small amount of Pex tubing). Maybe I'm just out-of-date with current costs, but $150/hour seems excessive. Otherwise, experience was great.
Response from Scott Plumbing
"You were told the price up front. That is are book price. The discount is 10% of labor so he gave you a even bigger discount than he was allowed."

We needed a plumbing service because our washing machine drainage was flowing out of our downstairs shower. Two years ago, we had had this same problem and a plumber used an auger line in various parts of the sewage line (several hours of labor.) This solution turned out to be a temporary fix- two years later our washing machine drainage was again discharging through the downstairs shower. We decided to use a different plumbing business. After reading reviews on the internet, we set up an appointment with Scott Plumbing. We are so glad that we did. The plumber, Travis, came the same day as our call. He quickly discovered where the clog was using a photo snake and a listening device (after 30 years, a main sewage pipe was sagging and collecting grease, debris, etc.) He cut out the section of pipe and replaced it with new pipe. The grease in this section of pipe was solid and blocked the entire diameter of the 3-inch pipe for several feet in length. Travis explained that an auger only clears a moderate hole through the blockage and can easily become blocked again. Please note, we do not pour grease down our sink drains-this accumulation was from over 30 years of normal dishwashing and usage. Travis then used the photo snake to check other pipes and fortunately everything else was fine. He then voluntarily hung additional pipe support ties to shore up sagging pipes from settling over the years. WOW!!! Travis is super professional and provides excellent service that will last. We will only use Scott plumbing and request Travis from now on.
