Flooring cupped and buckled from improper installation. Old Gin was mostly unresponsive to resolving the issue and in the end, ended up a total loss of over $10,000.

It's been a year-long debacle. Improper installation lead to total loss with no resolution offered by Old Gin Carpets. Within the first few months the floor visibly began to cup and buckle and remains that way today. The owner, Thomas Gullion, said he would, “make it right!” We have had to contact Old Gin Carpets over and over trying to get them to address this problem. Outside experts have been called in on multiple occasions with no resolution. Well over a year after installation the problem with our floors remains. To date, our business with Old Gin Carpets has resulted in a total loss of our investment.

Purchasing and the flooring was not the problem.  They had excellent selections, salespersons, and prices.  The problem was the installation.  The installers were over an hour late, rude and very unprofessional.  When they arrived the "boss man", as called by the other installers, rang my door bell and tried to open the door and come in my house without waiting for me to come to the door.  He then came in the door pass me through my Foyer and almost into my Family room before I could asked who he was.  He should have said who he was before barging into my house. Very scary and made me completely uneasy about this person being in my house. The actually installation of the flooring was slow but it was well done. The problems came when they were to install my quarter round molding.  This was the worst installation I had every seen and I have been in the architectural and construction business for over 35 years. On every wall they very poorly pieced together as many as four small pieces of the molding, many as small as one foot.  The mitered corners were cut with a pruning sheer and not with a miter box saw. When I told "boss man" that I was not going to accept the molding installation he screamed at me and would not allow me to talk.  So unprofessional and I feared for my safety at this point.  I did call Old Gin and they said that he would replace the molding. The molding was replaced but very badly done installation again.  I heard the installer tell one of his installers to get him a tube of "cork" (caulk).  He used the wrong caulk.  It was a sealant and should have been a painters caulk.  He smeared the sealant all over my freshly painted base boards and they are now ruined.  All of my base board molding will have to be scraped, sanded and repainted.  At the time this was done I did not noticed that he was caulking the molding or I would have stopped him.  I was told by Old Gin Carpets before the installation that I would have to caulk and paint the quarter round molding which is what I wanted to do.  Half of the quarter round molding will have to be replaced again.  I fully expect Old Gin Carpets to pay for my base board molding to be scraped, sanded and repainted!  Absolutely no excuse for this poor installation and the unprofessional way this man conducted himself in my house.  Also the installers should NEVER ask to use your bathroom!  This could lead to serious legal problems for Old Gin Carpets if medications or items from the bathroom came up missing.  No one wants total strangers using their bathrooms and looking through their house. The installers asked too many personal questions, "Do you have dogs", "How many people live here", and "Do you work".  Really scary and makes me feel unsafe about the security of my house.  I never want these people back in my house again.
