I have never been more unhappy in my life with the service from any one. Lumber Liquidators is not customer oriented and impossible to deal with. First of all, they would not talk to us about our problem but said we had to go directly to the manufacturer. (I guess that is the definition of liquidators). All the of wood flooring bought at Lumber Liquidators and installed by them curled and shrunk. My floors look horrible and the value of my home has decreased. The flooring had a 50 year warrantly on it.
Before they installed the flooring, they did the required check to see if the moisture level of the subfloor was ok for hardwood and said that it was fine. In less than one year every board in the house shrunk at the seams and curled at the edges. We call them and they sent the installer back and he did the test for moisture again, and once again said it was dry enough. He said he needed to call a home inspector. The home inspector came and said if he raised the moisture barrier under the house he found moisture. The sub flooring and joists were okay, but the moisture level under the moisture barrier was too high. They would not replace the flooring, or refund our money because of this moisture. The flooring was quality engineered flooring. I looked this kind of flooring up and it was recommended for high moisture areas.
We asked them why it was okay when they installed the floor and less than a year later was not. Their answer was it changed. The house is 50 years old and had worn hardwood flooring in it which they removed. It was not curled or shrunken.
We also had an additional $1,400.00 dollars worth of flooring not installed waiting for that room to be re-done. They would not take that flooring back, or refund our money even though the flooring had failed throug out the rest of the house. We have a lot of bad flooring and no recourse except to live with it. Their sales slip did say it had to be returned within thirty days and we were over that.Hhowever some of that time was spent getting the floor that was already installed inspected.
