Rita got us on the calendar immediately (most people were weeks out, and 5-6 months out getting started). Two days later, Chuck arrived 10 minutes early. he measured and designed (VERY good hand drawings) on-site, gave us options, and was done in less than an hour. The next day, he had full CAD drawings to us with final quote by noon. Wrap around shelves for our school room, and enormous book shelves for our music room--he even came up with a cheap alternative for our outdated mantle for under $200. He started in 2 weeks and was ready to bring to site a few weeks after that. His on site work was speedy but excellent, and his price was better than the other two who quoted. He even rewired the school room to add sockets and recessed lighting!

The final thing he did was seal the granite. As he began to seal it I told him that the counter was still dusty and needed to be cleaned before sealing. He said that was fine and it would disappear when he applied the spray sealer.
After a discussion about what we would pay him, my husband refused to pay the entire bill. Chuck became very angry.
Before he left, I checked the sink that he had re-installed and I informed Chuck that the sink was still leaking. He checked it and said it was because our faucet was broken and he was not responsible for that. He installed the faucet. It was not broken before installation. As soon as he left, I noticed that the dust and swirl marks on the granite countertop did not disappear, they are sealed into the granite. My husband went straight to the bank to stop payment on his check, but he beat us to the bank and the check cleared.
I had to call a plumber who thankfully was able to come the next day. The plumbing for the sink is not to code, the faucet has to be replaced and the pipes are leaking in three places. The faucet was missing parts. The dishwasher backed up into the sink and the disposal backed up into the other side of the sink. The plumber told me not to use the dishwasher until he could get back to fix it because of the danger of contamination due to the improper installation of the drains.

"We anticipated our relationship with the Horton’s to be very pleasant. We made it no secret that we have many jobs scheduled and that the jobs are handled in the order of the sign date. In addition, we have a sign posted that cancellation of a contract forfeits the deposit. This is because, especially for granite jobs, we are out money when the granite has been delivered to our granite shop and, especially, if we have already begun fabrication. When Mrs. [Member Name Removed] decided that she wanted to cancel contract because she did not want to wait I told her that we already had started work on the granite and could not refund her. I subsequently offered to expedite her job and she agreed to follow through with the contract. After we fit her in between working two large jobs, we started installation of the tile that she purchased. The labor was not the problem. The tile that Mrs. [Member Name Removed] purchased for backsplash was hand-made glass. The pieces were not the same size and were not perfectly square, as it is with most hand-made tiles. We used double the number of spacers to ensure uniformity and straight lines, and informed her that the glass tiles were irregular. She did not disapprove at that time. The backsplash design over the stove was first laid out by the tile supplier but Mrs. [Member Name Removed] did not like the layout because it was “too large.” She then laid out a design she liked better and asked me to install that instead. We discussed the potential difficulties with fitting it properly before I continued with installation. After all the tile was installed, Mrs. [Member Name Removed] decided she did not like the design over the stove and would like to go with something else. She asked me to remove that entire section so I cut that section out per her instructions. Every sink comes with a template for granite fabricators to use as a guide for cutting the opening in countertop (in this case, granite). The Horton’s were not happy with the way it fit or looked so they asked us to take the sink out and make a custom cut to their liking. We therefore removed the sink, made the cut on the job site, and reinstalled. After installing the faucet, it leaked at one location so I repaired it. As for sealing the granite, the tops were washed three times before sealing. After application of sealant, if someone wipes it down before it cures, this may ruin the finish. We have sealed granite many, many times in twenty years and have never had an issue with this. We have pleased many, many customers over the years, but we know we can’t please everybody. It is disheartening to have someone unhappy like this!"

The owner of the firm, Chuck Sanderson, took only one day to visit our home and provide a design and price. (The price was much less than one provided by Home Depot, and about half the price quoted by Lowes.)
He finished the work in about a week, bringing in, at his expense, an audio visual expert to ensure that all the electronic components, including a computer, speakers, large-screen TV, etc., were properly incorporated into the entertainment center. The finished product is very attractive, and has top-notch materials, including hardware. It is built to last a lifetime.

Overall, the quality of work was good, but I was not happy about the way a couple of things were handled.
Our granite countertops had a seem where there was supposed to be none. I drove out to the building where the granite would be cut and discussed with them where I would like the countertop template to be laid over our granite slab. The template fit well onto the granite slab. When my granite was installed, it had been cut where it should not have been. I suspect they cut my granite so they could then sell larger remnants. They denied this, but could not, to my satisfaction, explain why I had a seem in my granite.

did not do this with the granite. Seems he had us pay full price and pocketed the discount we should have received. According to the phone calls made to the sources. Either way, when he received the payment, he still didn't proceed with any work on the kitchen, what he'd pressed to start asap, on the Friday before. He just destroyed my kitchen, left me without anything to work with for 12 days. If not for his employee Josh, I would have still been left without a dishwasher with out of town company coming, just because it was an imposition to himself. I have extremely good hearing and overheard him say he'd have to find a way to charge us for the 2 minutes it took to hook up the dishwasher. Which took all of 5 minutes. I'd been very patient til this point. I'd also done much research, so we were not as stupid as I got the opinion we were in this area. He sent me to way over priced places, which i chose to go to the places I already liked the workers. He over charged us for materials which he kept. And he had planned to keep what was left (which was a loooooooooooooot) of our granite) He said he'd be able to do our bathrooms with the granite left over. Planned to keep it until we were ready, we'd already realized he was milking us for money. Money we didn't have earmarked for this project. Anything left over 30 days becomes HIS! I think not at the price of 23$ a sq ft. His first thing in the morning was around noon or later,. wasting much of my days. The granite for the cooktop was cut out inside the house. I understood days later why they cut it inside (which made me spend 4 days of the next wk at the Dr's office)
Once I was able to touch and clean the kitchen, I found the granite around the sink had many breaks in it all the way through and had been glued back together in such a way, it was a blob of a mess, never to shine. The Granite was installed on Wed night Aug 1, in which Tyler and Josh worked very hard to get it in that night, since I had company coming into town. Finally on Sunday I had time to really clean the granite, up until then I'd been too sick and found it had many breaks in it around the sink front and back. Aug 6th Chuck was emailed by my husband to bring the leftover granite and what time would he actually be coming on Tuesday the 7th, Since Chuck was busy monday. Tuesday my husband takes part of the day off, no granite, not informed it wasn't coming, so a day of Vacation is wasted yet again. Chuck started laying of the tile with the boys that day, which a few of them are uneven and in areas i stub my toe turning to go to the stove. The next day, Chuck sends the granite, boys finish tile but not the edging, grout all over the wood cabinets and walls even and the tiles. My husband then fires Chuck. Still no response is received forcing us to seek legal, which we didn't want to do. We just want the matter settled. We are not trying to get anything out of him. I feel I was screwed over since I recommended him to my husband and we are having to spend money to fix things. If you want someone good with words? Try him....small jobs maybe............BUT NO I WOULDN'T EVER RECOMMEND HIM FOR ANYTHING LARGER. I got very very tired of cleaning of his messes! His boys would try but he'd rush them off! He left all his leftover scraps and working stuff all over our carport for us to clean up with kids and grandkids coming. We should have been paid for our clean up services. NOt to mention he'd just help himself to my husband's tools. I caught him measuring other areas of my home without me asking him to. I did not like him going into my bedroom which was closed without asking first! He takes advantage of people if they are good. I could say more details but I will leave it here. Good luck to you!
We ended up hiring Scott Stafford of IVEY Tile, recommended by Jenkins Brick in Madison and they did an awesome Job of my back splash (which they had to fix the mess made first). Jenkins Brick and Tile and Scott were great to work with and honest. He did way more than he asked of us.

"First of all the job was $10,307.74 not $19,000 like the customer stated. First of all as the customer stated it took a few days to get the payment posted due to a fraud alert on the customers credit card. When the payment posted we ordered the stone it took a few days for the stone to come in. The reason we dont order the stone til the customer pays for it because we have to pay for it when it is delievered. Also once the stone is cut there is no returning it!! For example after the stone was delievered and we started cutting it the customer called and asked if it's to late to change the stone. Once the stone was delievered we started to cut the stone but couldn't finish all the cutting due to the customers appilances was not in yet and we needed the measurements. Which the customer ordered their own appilances that was another delay. As for the cost of the stone we charged the same price that we was charged for the stone and delievery. We sent the customer to the same place we send all of our customers they were free to go any place they wanted it was mearly a suggestion. But due to them ordering the tile from a different company it took long for the tile to come in which was no fault of our own. Which also prelonged the job. In no way did Chuck or If It's wood LLC.. try to milk anyone out of money!!They were interested in using the left over stone for the bathroom counters. It would have been easier to leave the stone with us til they was ready to do the bathrooms that way the stone only had to be moved once. As for the 30 days and it's ours we could have worked around that we have a customer stone now that we have had since June waiting on him to use it for his bathroom. So that statement is false!!! There was no mess left in the carport the last day our employees were there they even sprayed the carport off!!! For the comment our first thing in the morning is noon the customer was aware our employees don't come in til 8am we still had to load the truck and drive an hour to get there. For the comment about measuring other rooms not asked to do the customer had stated they wanted to use the remainer of the stone to redo the bathroom vanities. So we measured them so we would have the measurement when they were ready to do the job. The we get a e-mail saying DO NOT COME BACK TO OUR HOME!!! How do you respond to that. We are sorry that the customer was unhappy but the delays they continue to complain about was due to several things on the customers behalf. Waiting on the credit card to go thru, waiting on the appliances to come in, and also waiting on the tile."

Chuck responded immediately to our request for guidance and proposal to replace our existing bathroom vanity and sink. He was diligent in measurements, detail and precision of workmanship. The new vanity and cultured marble top are absolutely beautiful and fit the area perfectly. The finish on the cabinet is incredible and the drawers work as smooth as glass. The cabinet is rock solid and beautiful. We couldn't be happier with the product and service. We highly recommend you consider this company.

Because of Angie's list reviews I contracted with owner Chuck Sanderson to do some cabinet work I did not feel skilled enough to do on a bedroom remodel: the job was to build two sets of doors for cedar lined closets I had built and two large drawers for a king-size bed platform - already in place. I would furnish the wood - cedar and sassafras - that I had bought at a sawmill in Tennessee. This was April 2. Because my son, who is in the Army, and his family were moving back home in late June and I would be doing a lot of baby sitting I would need the job completely done before then. He agreed. Did not see or hear from him for three weeks. He did not come by for the wood. Over the following two weeks I went by his shop three times and told employees I needed to talk to him. No response. Finally on the fourth try I got him to come get the materials. He showed me how he was starting on the doors. To make this long story short he kept promising to get the job finished before I had to go to Texas to drive a U-Haul with my son's family belongings back to Huntsville. He did not make it. He finally got the job sort-of done a week after the absolute deadline we had originally agreed on. He said he would be in and out of the house in a couple of hours. It took all day and he left a mess for me to clean up. And - he did not get it right even then. The cedar closet doors look good (seemed to be well-built) but they were not fitted right. I will have to work on them. He told my wife it was my fault for not building the closets square - they were square. We had agreed - there was a drawing - on the bed drawers being deep enough to almost meet in the middle. He built two shallow drawers and one of the drawer facings was warped. I am glad this deal is over with. I will get some help and straighten out the mess. I looked back at his Angie's list reviews and cannot believe this is the same person/company other people seem quite pleased with.

This job started as new granite counter tops for the kitchen and ended up as a complete kitchen remodel. The owner, Chuck Sanderson, and the workers were all polite and efficient. The quality of the craftsmanship in the cabinet doors and custom molding Mr. Sanderson designed was amazing. Although cutting granite and ripping out the existing tile floor created a good bit of dust in the house, the workers were always neat and left the job site picked up daily. The only delays were caused by my sink and tile choices that were not readily available. The best part of this job is that it was "one stop shopping"! As I realized I wanted more work done, Mr. Sanderson suggested that his crew could handle the new jobs. He even arranged for the kitchen to be repainted. I liked dealing with one company and thought they did an excellent job.
