I renew my contract with them annually. I think the cost is $125 per unit. They come when they say they will, and if I have an emergency they come immediately and take care of it. I think their cost is okay. They're good, excellent at their punctuality.

We replaced both of our HVAC units. We have one upstairs and downstairs. The one upstairs is all electric with a heat pump and the one downstairs the heating is gas and the AC is electric. When we replaced them, they had both extended their life expectancy. The experience wasn't great. The real issue might have something to do with the units themselves, I don't think it was with the installation. They got someone from Carrier and GE involved due to a vibration we were having in the floor. The provider kinda shrugged their shoulders and said they didn't know what the problem was so that left the local installers at a loss. The did a good bit of work under the house redoing vents and they could never get it right. I actually think Carrier was more to blame, but the whole experience didn't sit well. I had three estimates and I think theirs was the best. I can honestly say I have not had anyone else have to come out for the units. I think they tried. I would have to think long and hard before I went back to them because they are Carrier reps and I would not use Carrier again. I think their attempts to solve the problem exceeded the attempts from anybody that manufactured the units to solve the problems we were having.

I wasnt given an exact appointment time when I scheduled the day before, just that he would be there 1st thing in morning. At around 8:45, he called to let me know he was in area and showed up shortly after. When he arrived, you could tell he was in an hurry. He even asked if he was there for maintenance/warranty issue, instead of a diagnostic service call. Even multiple times during the visit, he mentioned he needed to go and get the heat on for the elderly and that he had worked alot during this week. Without even asking me what my issues were, He immediately went straight to the attic with his tool box. Since he didnt ask any questions about what the issue was, I followed him up and tried to give him a summary of problems I was having. First thing he did was open up my air handler and noticed it was wet and said my condenser coil was leaking due to wetness in the unit. (I dont dispute its a possibility but I believed it was probably condensation from propane gas logs and high humidity in house during cold spell) He then went on to test the circuits looking for the power issue. He noticed there was not 240v coming into air handler and started tracking back until he got to AC Disconnect. Upon inspection, he mentioned that the plastic on copper pull out was melted on one side and was not making dual contact to send 120v on both sides. It would not go completely in with the plastic safety/wire shield in place. Since this was in attic area enclosed in metal box, he removed the plastic shield and pushed the disconnect bar in to make contact. While nobody would have their hands in there, I worry if an inspector would flag this if/when i sell my house. He simply stated it was due to wear and tear (it was almost 20 year old install). What concerned me after the fact is reading on the internet about melted disconnects and the fact this service rep DID NOT make any note of this on his invoice (atleast that I could read, handwriting wasnt very legible). After power was on to the system, he then started tracking down the wiring and came across a low voltage 24v red power wire that I had accidentally left unconnected the night before in my last ditch attempt to diagnose before calling service tech. He reconnected this and service was back on. While I did get the power restored to my system, I was probably left with more concerns that I had before: 1) removing the cover plate and pushing the AC disconnect in to restart power was "the fix" to get power restored, but is that safe/to code? why was it not listed on invoice? should I call in someone to replace that disconnect or figure out why it was melted in the first place? 2) if the evaporator coil was leaking, I was under the impression running a heat pump that is possibly low on refrigerant could damage the system. He stated that I would just use more electricity with heat strips to stay warm. The tech did not check the levels (he was in Huge hurry) and told me not to worry about it, it wasn't an issue. He even once mentioned I should look it up on the internet later. I felt I was just being blown off for him to make it to the next call. I would have happily paid for him to check the refrigerant levels while he was here to confirm evap coil leak suspicion since i just paid ~$100 for service call to get someone out but he was gone before the ink had dried on the check. In fact he left, and came back a few minute later to pick up the A.L. coupon he forgot in his hurry. I was charged $117 for the service call and $33 for "repairs". The only repair listed on the invoice is reconnecting the "R" wire that was disconnected on low voltage side. I used an angies list 10% coupon and paid $126. Based on this experience, I would probably not use this company again. I most likely am going to have to pay someone else a service fee to check the ac disconnect and refrigerant levels for my own piece of mind before I even use the system.

They provided services immediately when we needed air conditioning. The sales rep came on a Thursday evening and they installed the new unit on Friday. The price was comparable to the other 2 estimates I got from other companies but I would have to wait a few days to have it installed. It was 90 plus degrees and we needed it installed immediately.

I had called the day before to get a price for the service. The person who answered was nice, but didn't know what the charge would be. She said she would hav someone call to probide service charge pricing. I never got a call from anyone. In hindsight, we were packing in preparation for making a move, so the house was going on the market. I say that only because you have a lot going on when getting ready to move. I should have called back for the pricing myself, but just didn't think to do that with all the other stuff that was going on with the move.

It was 109 degrees or something like that. For the first floor I would give them an A and the second floor a B.

When our 4-year-old Carrier heat pump stopped cooling on the first day of summer, we were worried, afraid that service personnel would be so busy we'd have to wait for days. But Joe East had someone out the same day of the morning that we called. The technician called shortly in advance, arrived on schedule, was friendly and highly communicative. We didn't even have to pull out our paperwork--since they had installed the heat pump a few years ago, they had our records and found that we had a limited warranty, so told us that parts were free and our only cost was labor. Work was done quickly and our house returned to a comfortable temperature.

Overall good experience. The technician that diagnosed the issue was efficient but seemed agitated when I asked questions Friday evening. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they were able to come install the new unit. I made the decision Monday morning when they called at 8:15 to have the entire unit replaced and a team of 4 men showed up around 9:30am. My only issue with the installation process was I told them early in the install I wanted a programmable thermostat, either the one I currently had or one of theirs (for a relatively small additional fee). Mine would not work and the technicians seemed agitated I didn't want the standard thermostat. It added another hour to the job while they went to get the thermostat I had already requested.

We called Joe East and the lady assured us they could be out "after 1:00 the next day" and they would call before they came. At 3:00 PM the next day, I was concerned and called them and they assured me they would be there, and they were! The technician arrived and immediately diagnosed the problem when he saw ice on the lines (100 degrees outside). He explained what it was, why it happened, and how much it would cost to fix. He turned off the compressor and turned on the fan to help melt the ice and said he would be back soon to give time for the ice to melt. When he came back, the ice had indeed melted. He added Freon to one system while letting me see all the readings and explaining what they were and what they should be. He then inspected my 2nd unit and showed me it was also not cooling properly. He explained everything well and I never felt like I was being sold to or bamboozled. He recharged both systems and then noticed the drain line had some dirt in it. He vacuumed that out and a gallon of water came out (melted ice above the plugged line, we guessed). I was very pleased with the tech, his methods, his diagnosis, and letting me know what things cost without "selling" me anything. We will use this company again.

The installation in general appeared to go well. The thermostat installation was another story. They left old thermostat on the wall and installed the new one above it. They did not consult with my wife or me on the location of the thermostat. A gentleman from the company later came ad took the old thermostat off the wall leaving a sizable hole. The gentleman said he would arrange to have someone to move the thermostat and patch the hole in the wall.
After 2 weeks, having not heard from them, I engaged another contractor to do the necessary work. I sent them a bill for $80, which they paid properly.

I inadvertently damaged the thermostat on my HVAC and couldn't see the damage. It was straightened, the thermostat reinstalled and the HVAC has worked properly ever since that time.

They have always been fair and did great work. I had one issue a while back and they fixed the issue rather than suggesting that I replace the unit, as I expected to hear.

They dug the trench for the gas line on Monday. The pipe was layed and connected to the water heater on Tuesday (no hot water). On Wednesday the city inspector said the pipe was not large enough to handle the BTUs for the water heater let alone my other requirements. Joe East determined the best action for "them" was to get a bigger gas meter. They put a couple pressure values (our responsibility) on the above ground pipes and we waited for the new meter. On Friday HSV utilities installed the meter and we had hot water.
There was damage done to the outside brick wall when a hole was punched into the garage to get the gas line inside the house. It was fixed with a cement mixture to prevent water penetration. Later when I talked to the owner, with a long list of complaints, I found her to be a very nice lady who really cares about "customer satisfaction". I say she cares because she sent her son to our house to talk to us and later sent a team of people to the house to fix the damaged garage.
I wanted to give this company a better rating because of the attitude and actions of the owner but because it took too long to complete the job, the initial way the damage to my house was handled and mostly because their job manager (Wesley) showed very little professionalism when dealing with me and the problems he encountered.
I would not recommend using Joe East (Wesley) to install a gas line.

The Techncian arrived on time did a system check and determiend it was not low on freon , but that the exterior coil fins needed cleaning/ washing as they had become very dirty due to construction dust debris from new home built next door over the past 3 months. He washed the fins and rechecked the system outlet ducts , and showed me how to check for that in future and do it myself if i wanted to. I felt like they were very honest and did not try and push me for a maint contract or claim it needed freon when it didnt .The time he spent ( aprox 1 hr on the job) checking the system and cleaning the unit was well worth the service call cost.

Called Joe East after having another company gave an estimate to repair. The amount Joe East charged was less and it included the cost of a 1 year service contract.

This past June was the 2nd time we've used Joe East Heating and Air. The technician was on time, friendly, and fixed the problem as described above... in spite of our 7 year old son breaking it again (he tilted the condensation drain line up again hunting for bugs outside). One panicked phone call from me back to the technician and he directed me to check on the drain line and sure enough that was the problem. We turned it back down and it fixed it leak into the breaker box. It made a mess again that took awhile to dry out, but we then glued the drain line down so it couldn't be tipped up again. We'll probably use Joe East again the next time we have an HVAC problem that needs repaired.
